Buying in duty free on return to uk from us/canada

Just buy it when you're in the US/Canada. Take it out of the box and put it in your hand luggage. My sisters boyfriend did it about two weeks ago coming back from Florida. Seriously, it will be cheaper. Screw the duty free.

Who the hell declares stuff at customs? Seriously? I highly doubt you guys have or would EVER declare stuff to customs. My parents always bring back like double the cigerette allowance too. Pretty sure they brought back like 2000 with an 800 allowance.

Assuming you paid cash there's literally no chance of them finding out you bought it when you were there, short of putting your face on the national news.

No, they have to prove that you bought it out there. Otherwise they could pick people willy nilly and take electronics out of their bags and say they bought it out there.

Well aren't they great.
However if caught they would lose all of the cigarettes and given a fine.
So although they are happy about how they "tricked customs" I'm sure they wouldn't be too impressed if they lost all of their cancer sticks and got a fine on top.

Typical example of "what I'm doing hurts nobody" without looking at the bigger picture.
An excuse your average software pirate uses.

Trust you of all people on these very forums to try and relate something like not delcaring things to customs to piracy. How likely really is it that you'll be "caught" not declaring an iPad? They're hardly going to try and prove you didn't have one before going are they?

Also, what's this "bigger picture"? Who's being hurt by not declaring to customs? Do/would you declare an electrical purchase to customs, for like a laptop and pay the hundreds of pounds of duty and VAT they'll "require"?

Also depends what else you are buying as the total free limit is £390 on purchases excluding alcohol, tobacco and perfume.

Which some of the iPads would be under this limit, just depends on if that is all your buying.
