I am looking to upgrade my keyboard to a gaming keyboard, I would prefer it to have an audio socket for my headset if possible.

I have looked at the logitech's G19 and the G110 but there are very mixed reviews about both.

Can anybody recommend the best gaming keyboard at the moment?? Or can anybody recommend any? I would like to spend as little as possible but if I need to spend the money to get something spectacular then I will.

If you're in to using macro's then get the G510. It's got 18 fully programmable macro keys + 3 different keyboard set ups which allows you to actually have 56 macro's. It types beautifully and the LCD screen is handy in some games (not all show up useful info). I have 2 and their solid, plus Logitech customer support is second to none.
£60-70 though. :P

This keyboard looks by far the nicest but is it worth double the price of the x4? Also forgive me for being 'simple' but I have read the x4 has anti-ghosting.

Can anybody give tell me what anti-ghosting is??

See here for an explanation of anti-ghosting on the X4.

Basically it allows you to press several keys at once without some of them not being recognised.

Thanks for that, I will look around and see how cheap i can get a sidewinder x4 for although the G510 looks by far nicer I think value for money the x4 wins.

Thank you to all who have helped me.

I have a G11, had it for a long time, it's been pretty good but to be honest it's too big and it's ugly, personally I don't use macro keys either. I want to get a simple mechanical, such as the Das Keyboard or Steelseries 6GV2 / 7G. There is no such thing as a "gaming" keyboard really. Comfort, preferance and build quality are the most important aspects of a keyboard. When buying a "gaming" keyboard:

- Mechanical keys > Membrane keys
- PS/2 > USB (pointless marketing hype, you can buy a USB to PS/2 adapter though)
- Anti Ghosting

That's it really. If you need macro keys then sure get a logitech or similar, make sure you have room on the desk though as it makes the keyboard quite a bit bigger.

Looks like it does. Millions of americans seem to cope fine though, not necessary a problem for some, but something to keep in mind.

Ha! Millions of Americans can't be wrong! ;)

Yeah, I think it'd probably require a bit of getting used to. But if you're using a UK style keyboard as well (e.g. at work) it might get confusing.

Yes they can ;)

That's why there's a UK version of the keyboard.

See my post above.

Precisely my point!

I can't seem to find the version you've posted. The top few results from Google all have pictures of the American layout (even though they it's listed as UK in the descriptions).

I have been using the Logitech G15 for a good couple of years. Handy USB slots in the back for headset/Flash drive. If you can pick up a cheap one of these i would recommend it whole heartedly :)

The keyboard listed at OcUK has part number JQD-00006 which, despite the image they use, refers to the UK layout.

The US keyboard is JQD-00001.
