Bit of a simple one, if I change from semi-synthetic to synthetic do I still have to change the oil/filter every 3000 miles or can I leave it longer? and if so any idea what would be a good change interval?

Thanks.

If this is regarding the Supra stick with the 3,000 mile intervals regardless of if you use semi or fully synt.

The truth is that you could PROBABLY get away with using a good, modern Semi synthetic oil for longer than the 5k km stated seeing how oil technology has advanced somewhat since 1990 when the engine was introduced, but for the sake of a few hundred/thousand miles in order to save a few quid I can't see the benafit of risking it

Cool, thanks man, ill stick with the regular stuff then :)

Can I get in on this...
My manual says SAE 5w-30..and intervals are every 10k by the book.

Is this semi or fully ? I can get semi for £35 for 20L and fully is quite a bit more.

The local dealer uses Semi but not sure if they use it because of price of that is what supposed to be used.

3,000 miles is very short.

There will be no issue taking that out to 6,000 or even 9,000 on a modern synthetic oil.

Is this the supra that's not had it's brake fluid changed in 21 years? I think you should change that as often as the oil by the sounds of it ;)

quite... bake fluid is hydroscopic isn't it so absorbs water? oil doesn't unless the head gaskets gone... :p

FWIW i change the fully synthetic oil on my race motorbike every 3 days use!

comes out black........ still going strong after 5 years race use though! :)
