Insurance renewal advice?

Does windscreen replacement affect it? They told me it would just freeze my current year no claim.

Just had my renewal through and its almost doubled!

Last year = £385
Renewal = £653

I still need to call, but I've just had a quick look on a few websites tonight and they're all around that figure.

Been driving for 6 years with 1 year no claims... Fiesta 1.3 and I'm currently with Swiftcover.
 
I'd say the vast majority of renewals are always higher than what you paid last time round by quite a bit. It's to get extra money out of those that just let it auto-renew. I'm amazed at the people who just presume that's what it's going to cost and don't spend 5-10 minutes just running through a few comparison sites to get a better idea...

My windscreen claim with MoreThan 3 years ago didn't affect my NCB in anyway whatsoever. No freeze or reduction.
 
Premiums have been going up sharply over last 12 months.

Shop around to limit the damage.

The W/S claim would have no affect on the premium or NCB whatsoever.
 
Well... That was different! I called up and the guy on the phone didn't even try to persuade me to stay or make any type of deal...

Guess I'll be biking from now on = D
 
They're all coming back pretty much the same... Cheapest I could see was about £520.

I currently bike to work as it is so it not that big of a deal, perhaps more so when winter comes.

Then there's the fact my road tax is next month, which is £100 for 6 months! Just seems like I could save quite a bit while I don't need it.
 
Im sure you still need to insure your car now even if its SORN'D.

Only 3rd party fire and theft but pretty sure it still needs to be insured. Thats why I got told anyways when I put a SORN on mine!

Like I said thats what I got told when I sorted mine out, because I was just going to cancel my insurance and got told that I needed at least that on it.

More than likely will be wrong and just a lie to keep my insurance running to be honest!
