Which card should i upgrade to or should i upgrade when the next cards come out i was going to get a 580gtx but wasn't sure im getting a new monitor maybe a ips one with a resolution of 2560x1440 so need a decent card

If you are about to move to a monitor of that resolution, then getting GTX 580 would be a good idea - it's the fastest single-GPU card, has 1.5GB video memory and handles games at that resolution very well.

It is worth having a look at this OEM GTX 580 card (which comes with 1 year warranty) and only costs £290. It's a pretty great deal and you could always sell it on later when the next-gen cards come at the end of the year/start of 2012.

some good Nvidia deals on at the moment, GTX580 can be had for below £300 or GTX570 for £205, not sure how a single 570 would cope at that res but in sli it'd be more than o.k. Crossfired 6950's/6970's are worth considering too, as at your high res the extra vram over the 570 may well be of benefit.

I went from a 4890 to a 6970 (then it broke a week later) but for the week I had it was a big jump in performance @ 1080p.
After the rma I opted for a 580 and I think its brill :D
