From reading around it's possible but I've been unable to do it.

After restoring I get stuck in recovery mode. I've been unable to get it out with RecBoot and the Fix Recovery button in Tiny Umbrella can't either.

I've since gone back to 4.3.5 but would like to know if it's possible?

Baseband is 04.10.01

Thanks

Start up tiny umbrella
Click start server
Check your hostfile to make sure gs.apple.com is pointing to 127.0.0.1
Press alt-restore on iTunes and select the 4.3.3 ipsw

Exactly what I done, it restored the firmware but then error out with 1013.

Normally RecBoot fixes this but it can't get it going.

Try downloading the latest tiny umbrella.

Tick "Update iPhone4 Baseband" and then start the server.

This may be related to the SHSH request when it starts the baseband upgrade.
We're lucky that 4.3.5/4.3.3 uses the same baseband :)

In this instant even if it was a different baseband custom firmware could be created with sn0wbreeze to allow a no baseband upgrade option. This will bypass the need to upgrade the baseband.

This is correct. Both Snowbreeze and PwnageTool will do this. However at the moment if a lot of people are getting 1013 errors which is the second SHSH required for the baseband changes.

It's getting more difficult these days.

Used Pwnage Tool to make a custom jailbroken firmware that restored fine. :)

Not had to use that since the 2.2 days. :p

i think 1013 is actually itunes checking the file and not allowing it ie apple signature server

hence you change the hosts files as it points to apple site,, you just remove the last line in the hosts,,

for both

On Mac:
* Open Finder
* Hold down COMMAND + SHIFT keys and press 'G'
* Enter "/private/etc/" in the field and press "Go"
* Find "hosts" file in the directory
* Drag the file to your desktop
* Open it in text editor
* Remove the line that has gs.apple.com entirely or put a # at the beginning of it to comment it out
* Save the file
* Drag it back to the /private/etc/ folder.
* You'd need to enter your username and password to authenticate the move

On Windows:

* Locate the hosts file in one of the following directories:
Windows 95/98/Me c:\windows\hosts
Windows NT/2000/XP Pro c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
Windows XP, Vista, 7 c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
* Right click and click on "Open With..." and then click on "Notepad" on the list.
* Remove the line that has gs.apple.com completely and save the file.
