Hi guys,
After much deliberation i have decided to move to the blue side at least for now and possibly back to BullDozer if its better.

I dont yet have the main parts yet but here is what i have ordered.

* Intel Core i5-2300
* HIS AMD 5770 1GB
* OCZ Vertex 2e 120GB SSD
* 8GB DDR3 1333 RAM
* Asus P8H61-M mATX motherboard (new b3 revision)
* Lian-Li PC7Fwb (Thanks mrk)
+ What i currently have....
* Thermaltake TR2 550w
* WD Caviar Blue 500gb
* Seagate 640gb
* Benq G222HDL

I will update as i go along but for now here is a pic of my new case :)

Well its not much of a project as i am not modding it in anyway etc so i didnt think it would be worth posting there. Mods if you consider it a project then by all means move it.

and thanks :)

Ok,
Here is a box pic...

I am just installing the CPU,
When i push down on the lever/clasp it sounds like a crunching/scraping sound. Does that sound right?
Here is a pic..

It does make a sound when you push the CPU down so it should be normal.

If you're worried just remove to CPU and make sure no legs have fallen off :)

It does take a bit of force to get the CPU mounting arm down and locked - plus it may make a bit of noise (since it's metal scratching against metal). This is all normal.

Well it went in fine and so did the cooler...
Here is a pic of my 'workstation' today....

Can i still run Prime even though i am only using stock cooler?
Or what other test should i run to check its all fine before installing in the case.

All done :D

I will update when i have finished installing everything and set it all back up in my room.

I must say i was not going to get a SSD but WOW! It is truly incredible. Just installed everything i use in less than 5 min. 20min+ on normal hdd.
Incredible!

i like that case, and you got it for a bargain :(
was watching it on the MM.
It is really nice, a bit bigger than i thought but will be good for future expansion.
I don't think it's such a great idea to be building on a blanket. The surface of the desk would be much better.
Its a towel fyi :p and its too late now its all in and working perfectly!

I thought it was a towel at first, then looking at it. It looked far to fluffy and soft to be a towel!

Where did you get them??? I need some of them... OcUK don't stock them do they :D

:eek:
That is a real old one kept for things like this :p

I think they were from TKMAXX who have some real good stuff if you look :)

I have now fully updated and will take some more pics later

I live in towel poverty :( Mines are more like 10 year old sand paper with squiggly lines on them!

Glad you like it.

P.S. There's no real need to stress test a CPU that's not overclocked.

Towells

And remember when stress testing the towel air cooling works much better than watercooling as they lose there drying capacity.

:D Sorry couldn't resist
