How many miles do you do a year?

It seems like you are about to spend a seemingly mindbogglingly large amount of money on a completely ordinary car for no rational reason at all. You've got £20k in cash kicking around yet are finding 45mpg heavy going and free road tax rather than £120 a year appealing?

As with every thread you have ever posted on this forum it yet again makes no sense.

Buy a used Golf or something for £9995. Don't let trivial costs like insurance differential and road tax influence such a huge purchase. It's just nonsensical.

If you really want to buy a brand new ecohatchback then test drive them all and buy the one you like best, you'll have a warranty so reliability doesnt matter and frankly most of them are all much of a muchness. I'd probably have the new Focus though, the Leon is absolutely ancient and well past its sellby date.

The new focus is fantastic. It's everything the last one should have been really, and now that you can have it with both an X pack and Sport pack, I would have one over a mondeo all day long now. But they're so over-priced it's unreal. Apparantly the dealerships are really struggling to sell them and Ford aren't giving much leeway in the pricing, so we'll have to see what happens with them.

Thread doesn't make any sense at all.

Talk of buying underpowered brand new diesel econoboxes to avoid being "driven insane" (your words) by only doing 45mpg

But in the same thread talking about buying a hot hatch bigger than a fiesta ?

Sounds like another one of these daft "i want a new car 'cos i do" threads, where the OP just makes up random **** in their mind that they use to justify that its a great idea and will save them loads of money and get uber MPG.

:/

An Astra pushing 165BHP is classed as a hot hatch, it has some good low down torque and produces a great MPG for a car of that power. I'm not bothered about saving money, i just want a car that is going to be more economical than my current one, newer and a little bit quicker.

When you want a car, do you buy an older, more run down model?

my question too its down right shoddy the content that spews out from that site!!

You may think that, but the 100's of thousands of visitors who we get every month would surely disagree. The likes of one of the biggest computer retailers in the UK also disagrees who i do a lot of work with.

I have to applaud you all though, of taking a thread so far off topic its beyond belief. I don't think anyone barring the guy who said about a 140bhp VAG car has actually recommended anything.

Kudos on being keyboard warriors. You should be proud, i'm sure your parents are!

Who's that then?

When you started that site up I thought you were ****ing kidding but you've got a decent amount of content on there and i'm fairly impressed. I absolutley hate the name though. It sounds like a 3 year old's web design project.

How have no idea how you've managed to make a decent amount of profit from it though?

Change that picture aswell.. You are the 'director' of a hardware review site and you've got a picture of yourself where you are drinking Carling and look ****ed. Another reason why people doubt you've made money from this and I can't believe one of the most popular retailers in the country are doing business with you.

Jesus wept some of you can be utter *****
I know the motors section is has renowned for it but C'mon did he ask for a business analysis of his site, a review of his income or advice on his current or previous situations?
Sorry I must have missed that bit.

Back On Topic...
I was looking at leon's albeit a slightly lower budget version than you and Fox pointed out the Toledo's maybe a viable option, I'm not sure if they do a Diesel version tho. My mileage is only 6-7kish a year tho so that maybe why the toledo's were recommended to me, but from looking around the Diesel engines seem to be pretty much the same across the range.
