New Build (inc Pics)

Well the CPU cable wouldn't reach and the other cables have to be out anyway.

I am going to crack it open again tomorrow and have a look where i can improve but there really isnt that much i can do.

Non-modular :(

get yourself some small and large cable ties, bunch some of the power supplie cables up together to make them look neater, and possibly 'fold' some of the other cables then tie them? if that makes sense :) will help improve airflow and looks 10x better. non modular cables can be tucked away behind the motherboard tray if they reach, getting the sidepanel on might be a squeeze but it should go on fine if you don't over do it.

I have a lot of them. I have only built it today so i was more interested in checking it was working and playing with it :D

I will sort it out tomorrow and post back!

Sounds like a plan!

In all fairness the PC7Fwb isn't very good for cable management at all, but not many lian li's are really :p

Turn your PSU around, its going to be sucking in hot air from the graphics card.

So far so good, just get that and the cable sorted and you have a clean build :)

Don't do that. Leave it facing upwards. If it's facing towards the bottom of the case it will be starved of air (slightly less so if there's mesh/dust filter and cause it to overheat in the future.

I should know, we get some back for repair here at OcUK with psu's overheating due to them facing downwards, clogged with dust :p

I wont try now as its late and i will only frustrate myself :D
Yeh it isn't. Contemplating taking out a hard drive and having it in a external enclosure so thats one less cable etc

Thats what you want so it pushes it out the back?

+1

You don't use the PSU as an exhaust fan, the PSU should be fed cool air if possible. The fan on the inside draws air in and the fan on the outside pushes it out.

So you should have it drawing cool air from under the case, and then sending it back out again.

Just flip it round 180 degrees so the fan is on the bottom.

Well there is no mesh or opening underneath the psu so it will not be getting any air so it wont do anything?

The fan on the front of case is sucking in and the fan on back sucking out.

Good build! Hope you can sort out some of those cables!
Thanks,
Is it really that bad :( :o

I will have to look at it tomorrow and post some pics.

I have quite a few cable ties so can do something there.

Does anyone know what them cables that have like 3/4 sata connections on all one cable are called?

Ah ok then, leave it as it is or drill some holes in the bottom :)

SATA power cable?

Is there not a vented slot at the bottom rear of the case? On my lian li a70f, theres a vent at the rear, and grooves cut in the floor, also the psu sits on rails that raise it an inch or so above the case floor.

You mean like the multi stop molex? Didn't know you could get them for the sata cables? D:

I dont think so, i will have a look again.
And yes SATA but there is multiple connection points on the one cable.

Not sure,
The PSU is on rails.

It is something like this...

Looking at it though it does not look like it would make much difference, Moving one hard drive to an external case might help as it would certainly free up another set of power cables which i can tie up.

I am going to to strip it down today and plan it out.

Just cut down on the cables needed and therefore cut down the mess.
I at the moment have 3 hard drives and 1 dvd drive. So 4 power/data cables. I have seen people before that have one cable with 3-4 connections on in a line.
Something like that would be perfect but like i say i can just take one out and put in a enclosure, take out the dvd drive because i dont use it. So that cuts down to 2 and then i can tidy up more cables together.

I have a few ideas and it is now my mission to tidy it!

Looking at this pic...

Where do people think i should be looking at putting cables, tidying them etc?
