Thought I would make a guide on how to deal with general discussion and how to not come acroos as an idiot/fool.
1. Similar to the rules of most forums including this one;
Remember that there is another person at the other end, DO NOT insult other people, obviously a cheeky remark is ok such as Who are you? or Mac 10 in 3 minutes. However stuff like "you **** I hope you suck **** and land in a pile of ****" Is not acceptable.
2. Don't lie to people (unless to protect identity) especially Moderators, nobody likes a fibber and it will come back to you in another thread if you keep doing it.
3. If you're new, lurk for a bit, have a browse of the forum and get to know your meme's and internet abbreviations.
For meme's : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meme
http://knowyourmeme.com/
Internet abbreviations: http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Appendix:English_internet_slang
4. Don't take things personally, some people are trolls http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_(Internet) and they do it because they are pretty much anonymous, just shrug it off.
5 This one is important and also obvious, READ the original post, the number of times an argument has started because someone doesn't read the original post properly and therefore appears to be trolling.
6 Last but not least, use the search tool. If you have a question then it may of been answered already.
Hope this guide helps those that are new to internet forums or just need a quick reminder
I know some of us do make mistakes time to time, I've made my fair share of stupid posts and threads and have been ridiculed but if the same happens to you don't let this put you off. Just learn from it and be a bit more sensible.
Any feedback about this guide is appreciated.
