2 x DVI cables in to one port? Splitter?

Does anything like that exist?

I want to connect both machines to the same monitor (using one at a time) without having to faff around with the cables each time.

i want to know this aswell, as im thinking of using a HDMI>DVI converter for the xbox and a DVI from a PC(that im currently saving up for).

Yup, this is what KVMs are designed for.

Some monitors have multiple DVI ports (HDMI, VGA, component and all kinds of stuff) that you can swap between through the OSD/hardware switch. Not usually found on more budget orientated units though.

i never really read on KVM switches, just assumed they were for Mac users

You don't neccesarily need a KVM - just a DVI switch (which would be one part of a KVM).
Be careful what you buy though - I have a DVI switch which, for reasons beyond my understanding, will not work with an xbox 360.

I use a Neet® - 3 Port HDMI AUTO SWITCH BOX with REMOTE - 3x1 HUB (3 way input 1 output) - 1080p Full HD - v1.3b HDMI Switcher to switch between PC and PS 3.
