There probably will be a price 'change' when AMD release the 7000's.
Either Nvidia will slash margins to try to remain competitive or they will likely halt (or drastically reduce) 40nm production and just raise the prices of the cards so they remain on the shelf, which was what they did to the GTX 280's etc.

Possibly when the new AMD cards come out depending on how they compare on performance and price.
The new AMD 7xxx cards are likely to be out before the new Nvidia 6xx cards.
If AMD produce a card of equivalent or better performance to a GTX 570 or 580 at a lower price then you would expect Nvidia to reduce their prices.

The opposite happened when AMD released the 5870.
Companies can always do the unexpected.

If AMD release a card at the same or better performance for the same or lower price, than NVidia will have no choice but to match them in price. If the new 7000s significantly outperform NVidia but are much higher in price, then NVidia will raise the game as well.

Not from AMD either. It's said by the same person who leaked the facts a year ago that the GTX580 would be released before the HD6970 and even GTX570 could beat HD6970.

No they don't, if I remember correctly Nvidia were pricing GTX 285's around the 5870's price point.

Surely it will depend on the performance of the new AMD Cards and where they sit in comparison to the current Nvidia
Nvidia are extremely clever marketers!!, I have always found their cards to be priced slightly higher than their opposite performance AMD card.
When you read the reviews the AMD is faster in some games, not others - then we get the new Nvidia series which smashes it

That is an interesting post - we will see. No rumours yet about AMD releasing any cards within the next 2-3 months.

Just asked Charlie, and he said he was expecting September to be the release date for AMD's next gen depending on if TSMC make any delays or not, but AMD's side of the process has all been done.
