Ban the grammar and spelling nazi's!

I would like to go for a swim please, sir. Where is the beach? is it to the left or the right of the train station? Thank you very much, I will not buy those apples though, they look like red death bombs.

My sister also has a car but it! Excuse me.

I can't believe the poster could read that back to himself and his brain would make sense of it.
 
It begs the question, why care so much?
If you want to improve the countries grammar, be a teacher. If not, stop being a childish pedant.

I have noticed also that most of the people who correct grammar also contribute little to nothing to the thread or forum.

Me too, it can take me twice as long to decipher a message written in text speak than it would if it was just written properly; text speak is so annoying.
I try to make all my text messages properly spelt and punctuated but if it runs over into a second text then I'll go back and reword it to fit rather than leave half the letters out of words.

It doesn't take much effort to try and spell words correctly. I'm not quite so fussed about punctuation, in some cases that can be a bit more difficult to get right but there isn't really much excuse for getting fairly easy words incorrect, obviously general typing errors are perfectly possible to make from time to time.

I'm not perfect, I'm sure I make errors but I'd rather someone told me if I was making fairly basic mistakes so that I could correct them and learn not to make them again.
Correct spelling and punctuation ensures that your intended meaning is clear and not ambiguous.

It's only upsetting when you see people with thousands of posts that keep making the same errors. Surely you would pick up on your mistakes over such a long period of time.

For example:

Your != You're
should have != Should have

But yeah, whatever :p ;)

Agree far too many people that are here just to pick on others that have weaker spelling and grammer.

They should definatly be told to pack it in.

It's a free education, surely they should thank them for helping them to improve their English skills, for free!

What's not to like about that? Unless people actually enjoy having the English skills of a junior school child?

Just because you take it as a "low blow" and feel butthurt over it doesn't mean that's the intention. If you see someone doing something you know is wrong, you'll at least acknowledge it to yourself, but how is said person to know it's wrong unless they're told that it's wrong?

There's a difference between typos and people getting words wrong. I think there isn't much in the way of excuses for saying things like "brought" when they mean "bought", or "defiantly" when they mean "definitely". They are different words with completely different meanings.

Those that go on about how it's not important to spell correctly "on the internet" are just kidding themselves on how unimportant it is to use their own language properly. I know full well that these people would spell exactly the same if they were applying for a job, for example.

English isn't hard, especially not for those who are native speakers and people who go on about being dyslexic need to stop as well, it's said so often that I ignore most claims of having it as an excuse for poor English.

Just think for a moment how much it annoys you when people correct others, and consider that the "Grammar Nazis" feel the same annoyance when someone clearly can't be bothered putting the tiny bit of effort it requires to use proper English. It's really not hard if you stop being lazy.

Also, stop assuming people will only correct someone as a way of "not losing a debate", that's just an example of someone trying to divert attention elsewhere. I can back up my own debates and arguments whether or not I've corrected someone, and I'm not going to correct someone to divert attention elsewhere, you're just looking for ways you can further complain and belittle those who correct others in pretty much the same way you're complaining about.
