Anyone been to Chernobyl/Pripyat?

not that badly aslong as you dont get ubder close to the reactor, i'd love to go visit it must be a pretty bizzare place

There are still a couple of thousand people working at the plant, the other 3 reactors were still in use for years.

I wouldn't really fancy working there myself!!

This happened way before Anuraj's time and my time to be honest (19). So unless you are taught about this in history/brought up in convocation, you would have no idea about it.

I think it would be a great experience to visit the area, would feel quite eerie I would imagine.

If you do go let us know how you get on. If you don't post back, Ill know not to go :p

I'm 19, didn't get taught about it in school or anything.

Somehow stumbled upon it myself back when I was about 14 and found it really interesting, quite eerie at the same time.

I'd love to go and take my camera a long to get some photographs of the area.

Oh yeah, well I'm 33 and I don't remember getting taught about it. Beat that :D

Would love to go one day. As with a lot of Russia et al., I think it's probably better to get over there sooner or later, because it won't be long before all the fascianting Soviet stuff starts to disappear and one day it'll just not be there to see any more.

I watched a documentary about the Chernobyl incident a few years ago (think I was 15). Was part of some series of disaster documentaries on one of the terrestrial channels (BBC 2?). As interesting as it is, I'm not sure I'd want to have a mooch around there though :p (unless it was completely safe).

I'd love to go! But not on a bus with a load of other people. It just spoils the entire mood!

I'd prefer to go by myself, but these things don't happen :(
