Ugh why do people treat pets like objects.

What?

I thought trade-in was a common occurrence with pets? I got a cracking deal on an African Gray parrot last year against my, quite frankly, worn out Labrador.

I once swapped an African Grey for a Norwegian Blue with some guy on the internet. Wasn't the best deal I've ever made.

N offence but people like your mum shouldn't be allowed to keep animals.

Just sayin.

She just got back from looking at the dog, said it's small for two years old asking me how big they are meant to be for two years. Like I'm going to help her! She said she won't get rid of the cats but doesn't see why a dogs a problem.

It'll probably be to be too stressful for the cats and she can't afford the vets for the dog!

What can I say to her??

It's me or the dog :D.

Hmm, if your mum really did say that I'm not sure a dog's such a good idea.

Hurry up mum, grow some brain cells?

Well she's sat in the living room smoking her dumbass brains out, won't listen to anything I say just turns into an argument. Told her they need exercise and they will sweat a lot and smell the house out (reason my brother said no). Said the owner had it outside I was like what so you're going to leave it out all year barking. She said it's a female it's quiet and really nice it's the male dogs you have to worry about)

She won't even believe me about the vet bills, says some people down the road have a husky (they're friggin chavs)

I have a 9 month old husky so I'll say my piece. Do not get one unless you are prepared to take it on 2-3 hour walks each day. They will destroy your house otherwise. Tell her to keep the cats as she doesn't sound like the type of person that would bother.

My Friend at uni had a husky and after his partner moved out things got really difficult.

because there was no-one home to look after the dog when he was at Uni and at work in the evenings, the poor thing would get diarrhoea and incontinence from being so upset, and would whine and bark continuously until he got home, and when he did get home, it'd be another hour-long-walk to calm the poor thing down.

the house also STANK of dog, like a wall of unpleasant smell that hit you as soon as you opened the door.

He ended up giving the dog back to the breeder because it wasn't fair on the poor thing :(

I couldnt imagine swapping my dog, my dog is part of the family and even understands us humans

I swear the dog is practically human sometimes

This is what worries me, the smell. I admit I'm not fond of dogs mainly the smell I'm very sensitive to smells living with a smoker. I know for a fact she will not walk it everyday let alone for an hour.

My friend owns a staffie and it **** all over their house and raids the bins everywhere it's a complete mess. As soon as you walk in the house the smell hits you and the dog is all over you, you end up straight into the shower when you get home. I have to wear a beanie hat and a long sleeve shirt everytime I go downstairs so I don't smell of smoke, I don't wanna smell like dog too.

Why? So far all she has done is think about getting a dog and think about rehoming the cats.

Because she sounds incredibly irresponsible and unfit to look after a husky, if she gets one I think it's obvious that she's going to neglect the dog, and if he does, he will need to do something about it.

I have no idea how she's managed to look after 3 kids, what's with the Polish and council house rant she had? How's that relevant to anything?

She didn't even research the dog. She doesn't look after anything, house is a mess. Can't even be bothered to change a filter on a Dyson hoover that I bought her for her birthday.

I said it's not the stupidest thing you said this week (referred to the Polish thing).

I wouldn't get a pet because I'd have to look after it, and this would be causing me work, and thus people who view animals as objects don't even get pets.
