Miui Phone AKA Mi One

Chinese company Xiaomi has announced its making a Phone using the popular Miui mod of android.

Specs look pretty good.

1.5ghz dual core snap dragon cpu.
Adreno220 GPU,
4GB of ROM and 1GB of RAM,
a 4" Sharp screen (854x480 - not qHD),
8MP rear camera,
and a juicy 1930mAh battery.
An unlocked bootloader and (duh) MIUI OS, which is currently based on Android 2.3.5?

The launch price is 1999 chicnesses Yuan which converts to around £192

Sounds and looks impressive, im running miui on the X10 and its fantastic, this is a phone to watch.

Why not just buy an iPhone then? Seems a bit... cheap to me.

I don't like all this KIRFing Asian manufacturers are doing with the iPhone. Samsung does it, Meizu does it, now this lot.... do some of your own design please

because i dont want an iphone, i like andriod, yes the style is based off ios but its really well optimised,runs really quick and is really customisable, and dual core at that price with a nice large battery is a bargain.

i understand why the chinese do it, but samsung should do their on thing.

Large battery? It's the same as my Atrix, which lasts approximately no time at all. IMO dual-core is a fad.

Not necessarily. I can get two days out of my GS2 - same as out of my old iPhone 4, with its supposedly "optimised" OS and lower hardware specs.

This phone seems to have undergone heavy testing and torture to ensure it lasts not only in battery life (2 days stated of real world usage) but also build quality.

They seem pretty serious with this phone with the stuff that's gone on inside and the design of the component layout.

It's also cheap and a 1.2GHz version is going to be released as well.

The great thing as it says in the article, is you can flash what ever firmware you want.

it might not have the hdmi or dock thing like the Atrix, but its half the price and fully unlocked, which to me is a no brainer.

I think it will easily be one of the most popular phones since the HTC Desire for modders and general users alike. Adreno 220 + 1.5GHz and 1GB RAM will make for an amazingly smooth experience.

Hardware wise it does look good, but I'm gonna wait for the ICS phones. I'm hoping HTC and Motorola have got some big guns waiting.

ics should be an easy port to this, miui has a big community, and the specs are right for it.

I wonder how many uk retailers will pick it up, if any ! and what uk tax they will add tot he price.

when you consider the Orange MC is £150 for a SC 800mhz phone, or £180 for the huwai thing, this is a great deal.

And put that with the 4GB ROM and it's easily well above HTC and their reluctance to put more than 1GB storage for apps which is pitiful.

specs are good but im not too concerend with any thing that has an os like apples.

but i think, manufacture's like this should be overing phones and tablets without pre installed OS's (as an option). Just ready to be flashed with the rom of your choice, might need a few drivers though?

in sort of the same way you can buy a blank laptop, at a slighly cheaper price.

Why release a blank phone when you can release one with a really good OS to begin with and leave it unlocked so people can upgrade to another ROM down the line.

MIUI isn't exactly locked down anyway as it's a massive mix of all things good from other phone OSes.
