Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

Marvel was really hype, the problem is that street fighter didnt start until 11 and mist people had left already. Got some reason they thought anybody cared about kof and the room emptied when they put it on stage.

not very well run then is it?

i dont care about mk or kof, and they didnt upload the marvel videos. all they got on youtube is sf4 videos in a dead atmosphere.

Just had a half hr session in ranked and won about 6-7 games to move up to 2730PP only to lose a game (LAGGY AS HELL:mad:) and drop almost 100 points. So I am almost back to where I started :mad: 3.5k is officially impossible! :o

i think my timing is back on the pc version. but that was only in training mode. could the xbox online have different timing?

EDIT: just remembered i can still play on supercade if anyone want some st, alpha or 3rd stirke or other supported acrade games.

There's a difference but I always thought it was just my hardware, the 360 is plugged in to a plasma through an amp so I think there's some screen lag + I'm on virgin giving some game lag. I play much better on the PC version.

I'm surprised about the PC netcode being much better after Christain Svensson said
"I believe the netcode is largely the same. There's some extra care around the match making and a few tweaks to match people with appropriate benchmark machines but not wildly different from the console."

Can anyone suggest a good non shoto or charge starting character? I've fallen for Abel but it seems his main bnb combo is a 1 framer and that I should learn something called plinking. Needless to say that isn't going to happen!

I'd recommend starting with a non charge character.
Cody, Fei Long, or Rose.

Keep trying his bnb using plinking, for about 10-15 mins each day if you have time. You'll get the hang of it quickly.
Although if you're playing online, don't expect 100% success rate with it.

I don't know what is different, but I get noticeably better connections to people on the PC. Maybe they're just more intelligent about networks and have things set up correctly.

Cheers for that. Fei Long I used to play with back in SF2 and i'd like something new, and I get an old cat lady vibe from Rose. Cody it is :)

Yep, playing charge first ruined my ability to play fighting games :(

It's why I'm so crap at them, I can't even FADC or do supers from the left.

****. You think so?

Hmm. My first games of 1 on 1 fighting games (in anger) was Street Fighter 2 an I started out with Guile (with a little smattering of Shotos here and there).

Think thats ruined my game completely (to learn other characters?)

You said you cant FADC, are you refering to charge characters?

What charge characters use FADC other than Guile (in Vanilla, when I used him, not even guile had a use for it other than DERP random flash kick fadc back dash)?

Blanka? No
Honda? Nothing that's worth wasting meter for
Balrog? Nope
Guile? Flash kick FADC back dash only
DeeJay? Nope
Vega? No

Obviously a lot of them CAN FADC into jab but it is never worth it and it has very little utility. FADC into motions are hard, the most conplex thing I can do are 1 frame links and dash Ultra's.

It's not just that, things like DP's and supers are hard, I'm always crouching with motion characters etc.

Charge characters are easy mode characters for people who are terrible at fighting games, and starting with them really screws you over in the long run.

i recommend a grappler like gief and hawk, the simplest character strategic wise. and they have no hard combos to worry about.

i think learning how to get around fireballs and maintain momentum first will help you move on to other characters much more quickly.

hey i started with charge characters too (guile in sf2 and honda in sf4) but i learn how to fadc, tiger knee moves, etc without specificity practising them. although i agree charge characters in general are very scrub friendly. they generally have good normals, and safe spamable special moves.

I don't agree with not starting with a charge character just because they are a charge character, if you have fun with them you will play for longer and get better in general. I know for the longest time I played bison exclusively because I liked the character design so much. Eventually I moved to motion characters and was comforable with them after a week or so.
Admitidly Sf4 wasn't my first serious fighting game but I know I wouldn't still be playing it if I had started with a character I didn't like.

You're not a decent player though are you?

Edit: That sounded harsh, I'm trash at this game, if I can beat someone they're nowhere near decent imo.
