Hi everyone I'm at the start of putting together a new gaming rig, I'm starting from scratch and have been out of the scene for a while so I'm still in the process of getting up to speed with all the latest stuff.

Here is what I've got so far:

CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (£169.99)
CPU Cooling: Zalman CNPS9900-MAX Red LED CPU Cooler (£43.91)
Motherboard: Asus P8Z68-V PRO Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard (£151.99)
RAM: Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (£53.99)
GPU: Gainward GeForce GTX 570 1280MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (£254.99)
SSD: Crucial RealSSD M4 64GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive [CT064M4SSD2] (£94.99)
Optical Drive: Sony Optiarc AD-5260S 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) – OEM (£17.99)
Case: Fractal Design Define R3 Midi Tower Case - Black Pearl (£69.98)
PSU: Corsair HX 650W ATX Modular SLI Compliant Power Supply (CMPSU-650HXUK) [CMPSU-650HXUK] (£106.99)

I'm aware that the new 28nm GPU's are going to be coming in soon but not really interested in upgrading anytime soon other than perhaps adding another GTX 570 in an SLI set-up.

There is room for a few changes, haven't really got any idea about the case although that was the price range I was aiming for along with the PSU, the SSD also isn't set in stone since I know I could pick up a 1TB for half that price.

If you've got any little tweaks which would give it that little bit of an edge or any small savings (always handy) I'd hugely appreciate it and look forward to reading what small changes you could recommend.

Thanks hugely in advance for any help!

Thanks, the small saving on the power supply covers the increase on the motherboard.

Will a GTX570 be powerful enough for most of the newer games coming out or would you recommend SLI'ing 2 560ti's instead?

A GTX570 is really fast and I use one with all the latest games set to max settings at high resolutions.

Then add a second hand GTX570 in a couple of years time, or sell it for the latest and greatest.

I'm just thinking of games such as Skyrim and Battlefield 3 but good to know that it's a solid card, with so many round it's hard to choose the right one, seems like I've pretty much got a system ready to build then!

I'll definitely be adding the 2nd 570 down the road.
