6950 1gb or 2gb

what do you recommend me to buy because i can buy a gtx 590 if i want

Have a read of this review of the GTX 590.

It has comparisons with the HD 6990 and Crossfired HD 6970's.

Crossfired HD 6950's will give a few percent less performance.

I'll try and give you the information to help make a decision but I can't make it for you.

Other people may be quite happy to tell you what to spend £400, £500, £600 on but I think you should make your own informed decision.

If I was spending my money I'd get 2 HD 6950's for around £400 rather than a GTX 590 for £600.

You may prefer a single card solution even though it's still 2 GPU's on a single card.

I believe there is very little overclocking headroom with the GTX 590 because the cooler can't cope with any more heat.

how about the 6990 cant it cope with any more heat? also dam i cant buy 6970 cf costs to much

From what I've seen of the HD6990 it can be a very loud card:

Radeon HD 6990 Acoustics & Temperatures Linus Tech Tips

Tom's Hardware: AMD Radeon HD 6990 4 GB Noise Test

At stock speeds the HD 6990 isn't going to be much different than 2 HD 6950's.

The HD 6990 does have a switch to select a second overclocked BIOS but this will make it run hotter and noisier. I also believe that using this BIOS voids the warranty.

You can't really go far wrong with any of the HD 6950's.

It depends really on the prices of the cards in Sweden.

In the UK the cheapest of the bigger brands is the HIS which is around £200.

Cards with the dual fan coolers should offer better cooling and these can be had from VTX, Sapphire and MSI. These are £198-£240 in the UK.

I would just get the cheapest, from a name you recognise and which has a good cooler.

Also in the UK some have a 2 year warranty and some 3 year. I don't know what it's like in Sweden.

What res/size monitor are you using? dependent on the res you may well be spending money on graphics card which you wouldn't see any benefit from.

If you're going to jump in at this late stage at least read the thread.

1920x1080.

Some may think Crossfired HD 6950's is overkill at that resolution but even they'll only do around 55FPS in Metro 2033 with all the eye candy and around 65FPS in Crysis 2 DX11, Ultra and HQ Textures.

I'm sure there are many other current games where Crossfired HD 6950's produce similar results and there will be plenty of new games which are just as demanding.

Oh man you have the answer for everything :) btw i got sli 460 atm will 6950 pwn them

When you factor in other things apart from maximum frame rates in games, I don't think 'pwn' will be that relevant, though yes they should beat them quite well in some / most situations.
