Hello everyone finally it has come to the time when i have a decent job and i can buy a new pc. I switched to console as i had little money and i can't stand it haha. So im looking for a pc that will be able to play BF3 with a nice smooth framerate, a little bit of video encoding here and there but not much if i can help it. I have a budget of £500 and i don't need a monitor, os speakers or headset but i need a mouse/keyboard (i don't mind if they are cheap if it means we can spend more on better parts). I don't know whats good in the market at the mo but im not sure if i will be able to afford a BD and it might be a bit of an overkill. I have so far:

i5-2500k

6870

And thats it haha i know nothing about motherboards, ram and hard drives so can you guys recommend something good. If anything i have posted above is not amazing or can be better please let me know.

Thanks in advance :D

You cant fit a i5 2500K and a P67 motherboard (needed to overclock the CPU) into the budget without cutting back on the other important stuff such as the graphics card.

Luckily even at stock speed a i5 2300 is fast - http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/core-i5-2500-2400-2300_7.html#sect0

Putting a worse graphics card in - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-140-OK - brings it much closer to £500

Hey man thanks for the reply, what if i was to cut out the mouse/keyboard could i spend more on the 2500k or is it not reall worth it and is the difference really easy to tell?

Thanks again

Well the link above shows a i5 2500 (non K) which at stock speeds is the same as the i5 2500K.

The "K" just means it has an unlocked multiplier and a better onboard built-in graphics core (still crap though)

And also to overclock you need a P67 or Z68 motherboard.

I haven't exactly put a great keyboard+mouse in either, picking the Blaze stuff is against my morales as its really bad and unresponsive.

Ahh ok thanks i will stick with the 2300 :)

Can you recommend a good keyboard/mouse and i will see if i can scrape a few more pounds from my pockets haha

Thanks man,

Ok i think i am getting somewhere now :)

Had a look at a few things and might suggest some other things?

I am thinking about 6gb of ram or is that a bit of an overkill? As far as the budget goes i am going to get a build im happy with then work on the budget so i will put the budge to about £600 for this lot. Any more ideas?

The Lepa I linked to is better than the Corsair, it also has two pci-e connectors which you need.

So No, dont go for the Corsair in this build.

Ok so im looking at spending about £560 which is good only thing is i think i will need a good cpu cooler and i have heard that micro-atx can get very hot very fast? Can you guys recommend me a good cpu cooler?

Cheers

Ahh it is all a myth haha and where i worked before in a retail store i was doing some work for the IT guys and they refused to roll out some new computers that were using m-atx as they claim it will overheat haha

Also with intel coolers are they still quite hard to mount? I always had issues mounting one

Iv'e never heard of "Intel" coolers been difficult to mount,Just read the instructions take your time,And the job will be a good un,Here's a video showing how to fit it,Hope it helps.
