One law for the rich, anoher law for the poor.

No, it was opportunist and wanton violence and theft.

Exactly. Opportunities put there by our government and it's lax attitude towards robbing others in broad daylight.

PS stockhausen, do you sometimes worry that the severally biased nature of your posts undermines any point you're trying to make and as such people don't take you seriously?

If you'd actually read the OP instead of just looking at who's posted it you might have noted that there's nothing wrong with it (thank you Stockhausen :) ).

I was actually pondering the other day... how can you have a government that represents the poor when they're all rich toffs? you can't can you? no wonder Robin Hood was such a legend, I bet the poorest in society have been systematically looted by the rich all throughout history.

At a certain point the economy and current system basically becomes distribution and sponging of wealth from people to the rich.

Why do people think there's so much value in working hard, people should only have to work well and do the job right, it shouldn't be at the expense of their quality of life, long hours and pressure don't make for a better life, just a more stressful and tiring one with a bit more money.

There is value if you want to achieve something and there is nothing wrong with only working well. Different priorities for different people.

Nothing to do with bankers, or rich people or bonuses, just Scum behaving like Scum, pure and simple, and the solution is to round up and lock away every last one of them for the rest of their natural lives.

This.

The banking situation is a sePerate instance entirely, though I agre in part with the OP's leftie whining that the banking situation was poorly handled. There was as much criminality occurring in those instances as during the riots, though it was less obvious but despite that it was not the cause of the rioting, just another excuse for those without the backbone to acknowledge that parts of society are beyond redemption and they don't care about it.

I don't need to smash you in the face with a cricket to prove it hurts.

I will never understand the "I work 37.5 hours a week doing manual labour so I deserve as much as an accountant" mentality. All that shows is a distinct lack of intellect.

You can't just wake up one morning after having slobbed your way through school, college and not getting a degree and then come out with some crap about your current work ethic.

People who get paid well generally have worked hard for a long time including throughout school, continue to do so and they have a high level of stress and responsibility. That is a generalisation but I would bet that would be broadly true across the higher tax band.

The lower earners in this country have it better than ever before; they have just been encouraged by successive governments to cultivate a sense of entitlement and an inflated sense of self worth.

Ask all the people who complain about their lot some tough questions about how they have lived their lives and it will be pretty easy to see where they have lost track. Its much easier to blame others than to accept personal responsibility for your own mistakes.

Some woman was whining saying how Cameron needs to live in camden on the dole with 3 kids before he can talk about the riots; well heres an idea, don't ******* have 3 children if you can't afford one let alone 3.

We have build a culture that say "Look at my situation and see that I deserve more" rather than "why am I in this situation and how can I help myself".

I'll never forget an article I read in the metro once, several years ago. Maybe around 2007.

It was written by somebody who works in the capital and has a six-figure job, but wouldn't say what they did.

But anyway, the underlying message he was trying to say was work hard get rich. They said how they don't complain about those on lower salaries coming into work at 9am when they've been there since 6am and neither do those who earn six-figure sums then complain when they see their low salary colleagues leave at 5pm on the dot. 4 hours before them.

People need to remember there are some people who work these hours 5 or 6 days a week and thoroughly deserve every penny they earn. Obviously there is disagreement to be had when you see bankers who make mistakes getting multi-million pound bonuses. But don't use them as your idols. Use the ones who work their knackers of as your idols, work hard yourself, rise up the social hierarchy yourselves, or be content on your average salary. There's opportunity out there for everyone, unfortunately we don't all begin at the starting line, nepotism can be rife in business, but we all get a free education up until we're 18 now. People need to learn that sometimes gaining success can take time but it's possible for everyone to do.

The thing is, most of the rich are robbing people blind yet they don't get into trouble.

For example, Banks APR's are far too high, daylight robbery but yet if a bank gets robbed theres hell on. Double standards if you ask me.

Yeah, those two scenarios are the same thing for sure.

Banks are businesses at the end of the day, your fault for going to one with high APR. Shop around more or just don't borrow money.

Banks maybe a business but I mean if you think about it look at all the other high charges such as credit cards, store cards, loans e.t.c. The cost of living goes up, which kind of makes you having to take out these types they are nearly forced upon people just to live as jobs are harder to get especially in this climate with everyone fighting against each other.
