If you bought the SGS II or Sensation sim free, how much did you pay?

If I go sim only then I will buy the phone sim free, but need to get prices to see if its worth doing it that way.

I assume it had an RRP of £500 when released, was that about right?

o2 were selling these at £300 a pop werent they on release for like a week then it went up a lot....could be wrong though but it was 100% cheaper then they are now thats for sure.

sensation is £411 amazon - £350+ new ebay

SGS2 can be had new for £370+ ish on ebay

worth getting then on cheap contract tbh

If i bought them Sim free

The HTC Sensation would cost me £351
and the Samsung GALAXY S II i9100 16GB would cost me £385

And the 32GB GALAXY S II would cost £549.99

That online prices from where i normally buy my mobile phones & GPS stuff from ,
my local town retailers prices are about £100 higher for each one..

I've found the opposite. My GS2 is costing £460 in total over 12 months. £30 p/m, 400 mins, 1000 texts, 1gb data, £100 handset with talkmobile minus £30 quidco = £430.

Sim free plus a £10/15 sim isn't worth it.

I'm not sure but I think then is a typo of them, and he's saying the same as you.

I'd say it'd be better getting it on contract (although depending on your exact usage it maybe cheaper buying it), as looking at the prices people have listed from amazon/ebay etc you're looking at 350(phone)+120(10 quid a month GiffGaff for example).

I've seen 12 month contracts costing less than that (like loltim's above), and they also have the benefit monthly payments (although obviously you don't NEED them), meaning you can spend say 130 upfront (phone=100 + 1st month of contract=30) and have 220 left over to spend on accessories/tablet/random treat/save etc..

we're on the same page ;)

On actual release day the SGSII was 530 from Phones4u. There was a chance the following day it would drop to 500, but I wasn't going to wait...

Others then followed a week or so later, CPW at 399 for a few days until they realised everyone bought them and unlocked them!

Paid £320 for my SGS2 from a guy I met on gumtree. Stuck a giffgaff sim in it with unlimited texts and data along with 250 minutes for £10/month, sorted :D

Bought my SGS2 for £200 (along with a case and official car mount). Stuck my £15 a month sim in it. No contract for me :)
