Newell: We have to convince EA to come back

impulse has social features i dont know about the others

Does it have a client? Only ever used GoG and Gamersgate TBH. If I can link BF3.exe to Steam then fine but what with it requiring Origin I really cannot see that working. As has been said before you can add Origin as a non-Steam game and get the overlay but I am still ****ed at EA for not letting me add my older EA titles to Origin. ********.

I'm slowly turning in to the "If it's not on Steam or it's not Blizzard (World of Warcraft, Diablo III or Starcraft II) I'm not really interested.

I'll just stick to the annual EA Sports FIFA, I'm not fussed about much else.

Sorry EA.

hahaha

The steam store has a massive MW3 plastered over it and he wants EA games back?
:D

Down to advertising, EA could do the same with BF3 if they remove their heads from their ass.

Most definitely, I just found it funny. :p

I think EA decided to not play ball because of a change in DLC distribution by Valve but nobody has firm facts and screw reading the T&Cs.

Both companies would benefit on Steam.

Not that I care, I'll still be getting retail. :p

NO ITS NOT ******* COMPETITION. BF3 is on Origin and not on Steam so they are NOT competing on that title. Will other EA titles appear on Steam? Unlikely. So they wont be competing

That is exactly how they are competing. By taking users away from steam who want to play games that require origin to be used.
Remember how many people were unhappy about the likes of football manager requiring steam?
Granted steam have the advantage of being the big name in digital distribution, but EA aren't exactly small time are they?

Also, everyone saying no steam = no bf3, I DUNT WANNA GIEF EA MA MONEYS. Where do you think steam gets those copies of games? EA would be getting your money regardless.
So how about showing some respect to a company that actually supports PC gaming as a platform. BF3 alone is enough proof that they still see the PC as a viable money maker.

?

Get a clue then come back.

Why have they **** on all the E.A sports titles for soo long on the PC?

Why is their no Fight Night on the PC?

E.A support themselves, you will see that Valve have done more for PC gaming than E.A ever have done.

I have no intention of installing another gaming download manager on my PC, one is enough. EA can sod off if they think I'm going to go through their typical "all gamers are scum and must be treated like criminals" crap, just for a game.

*Family fortunes incorrect sound* Wrong, that is not competition. That is removing the competition. In order for them to be in competition they need to be selling the same games.

Q: If you cant buy EA games on Steam will Steam's prices go down?
A: No

Q: If Origin is the only download manager with social overlay where you can buy EA games is there an incentive to make that platform better?
A: No they already have you using their platform no need to improve it as you have no choice.

Competition is about consumers having choice so the companies try to out do each other so the customers choose them over the competition. What EA have done/are doing is removing their largest competition. Its clever business but ultimately **** for the consumer.

who really cares :D

you want bf3 you use it simples :p

its new can you remember when you had to use steam for games first off , damn steam  :p

also i dont get why all the mw3 haters keep pointing it out it will sell 10 times what bf3 does whether you like it or not ;)

It is a huge oversight on EA's part if they do not get BF3 back on Steam ASAP. They are leaving the field wide open to MW3 with their attitude. I suppose they see some massive opportunities to grow Origin from the release of BF3.

We can't avoid using Origin to play the game. I made sure that I bought my boxed copy from a different E-Tailer so that EA does not see all the profit.

Valve need to release a battlefield type game maybe in the vein of combine vs resistance.
I am sure they could build on their current experience and it would be popular .

Every post saying “ZOMG I’z hateZ the onionring” Is just a shadow of every post when Valve first released Steam many moons ago, exactly the same with exactly the same outcry.

Your all blaming EA for this, and trust me I’m no fan of EA but its Valves issue that is causing this, not EA’s. Its causing problems with other publishers as well. Just look at Nadeo and Trackmania 2 for another example. The games market is dominated by greed and Valve are, in the opinion of other publishers asking for too big a slice of pie that they haven’t baked.

If you want someone to shout at then go shout at Valve.

Also you could not add the BF3 alpha to the steam client but you could add origin. Steam launched Origin, Origin launches BF3. Its convoluted but you could apparently still use the Steam overlay if that’s your bag.

Finally anyone saying BF3 wont sell on the PC because of Onionring is insane, it would probably take Armageddon to prevent it being the biggest title in years. Your single sale boycott will sadly have about as much effect as any other game boycott has, zip, nada.

Valve need to be careful here as EA also publish The Orange Box & Portal2 @ retail on all formats if they upset EA too much EA can suddenly make it difficult to get those titles @ retail quite easily if stocks are low  The DLC issue is pure BS smokescreen as all GFWL titles on Steam sell the DLC on the Games For Windows Marketplace & patching is done via GFWL...........

Origin will tank
Steam will prevail
EA will come crawling back

EA will need a practical demonstration and a punch in the wallet before they go back on this current line of operation.

This is exactly why EA started selling games on steam in the first place. EADM sucked and nobody wanted to use it. Origin is just EADM with bells on, everything that sucked about it is still there underneath the fancy store browser from what I can tell.

Its no different to Steam was when it was first released. Granted it is pants but so was steam back then. Give it a couple of years and you’ll all be saying the same thing, "I love it, its the only thing I will ever use" when Activision Turnip Manager is released

Thats what we don't want. The great thing about Steam is that is supports so many publishers (Lets be honest if it only had Valve games it would be pretty ****) We dont want/need Origin and Turnip Manager and Ubi's GarlicFrogLegs downloader et al.
