GS450H / E90 330i / E39 530i

No, 2nd hand, around 12-14k with 60k on the clock.

The car is going to do around 30k a year and finding a rival with adaptive cruise etc and getting a proper warranty is hard/or more expensive.

BTW the car is more a tool over something to enjoy, westfield takes care of that side of things.

That looks absolutely utterly boring and awful. How can you possibly be considering spending actual money on that POS?

It looks like the type of thing id be happy with if id paid for a default "full size sedan" rental in the united states on a fly-drive holiday, which id forget the moment i stepped out of it.

Awful? POS? By the sounds of it your majesty, Lexus owe you a written apology for merely existing!

They gave it to me so I could get an idea of the feel of it, they do get some models in obviously older with more mileage on which seems to be a good choice as they tend to be FLSH and come with 1 years warranty which I would be getting anyway.

They have the right attitude of get me into a Lexus even if it's not from them as where would I be going for servicing and buying the warranty etc etc.

For 13k I can get :

530i SE 80k with low-mid range spec - Warranty will be around £1100 for the first year and then the actual stuff covered will be less for the next years as well as expensive..
E280 Eleg 60k with low spec - No idea on warranty but imagine it to be similar to Mercedes, around 4 figures.
Lexus GS450h 65k full spec - warranty for 4 years will be around 2500

Get used to that level of service, one of the great things about owning a Lexus is how good the dealers are, I went in looking at IS250s and told them straight away I would not be able to afford a Lexus approved one, yet they where still tripping over themselves to help me!

Can someone explain why their customer service is so good?

Its the Lexus USP - they realise they don't have 'it' in the same way BMW, Mercedes et al do - so they compete in other ways. Offering simply exceptional customer services allows them to attract people who, despite realising that the alternative offerings from BMW and Mercedes are better cars, are simply hacked off with the level of service they receive, or the reliability, or whatnot.

It's the whole Japanese culture and trying to push it into Lexus UK.

It's actually more based on US service/expectations. Intitially Lexus set out to establish itself as a premium brand in the States and the Yanks are notoriously fussy consumers (perhaps too fussy in reality). They went about this, suceeded/exceeded expectations and created an extremely successful brand in just a few years. They have since brought this accross to Europe, but it is harder to break down brand-snobbery and thus why they are still only a minor player - they really do go out of their way to help you as they are still trying to establish the brand and need to offer "more for less". Infiniti (Nissan) is in the process of doing the same thing BTW - again they are established in the US but are only just moving into Europe.

I think the reason Lexus styling can be a bit divisive is that Lexus need to look primarily after the US market. This is particularly clear with the GS, RX and LS - they look "right" on US roads and are very much to US tastes.

(I don't think the GS looks it's best in Red, darker metallics and silver loook better IMO)

Ah that explains why Lexus are a little bit behind on handling and style.

That is debatable if there behind in style why did jag copy the side profile in the XF

And handling i drive the Sport version with Active Power Stabilizer Suspension System (APSSS) which as never been driven by the UK press and handles extremely well.

a couple pics of my example.

Look at it with your eyes and then tell me that you do not agree with the fact that it looks like a bland rental which you'd forget 2 mins after stepping out of it?

I dont think bland quite cuts it actually.
