Husband gets arm ripped off by shark on honeymoon(killed)

2 people were killed swimming off the same beach, less than 2 weeks apart. Sharks are very territorial - the chances of it being 2 separate sharks (especially given how rare sharks that attack humans are) are miniscule.

As I stated, sharks are territorial - it will likely be in the same area and will respond to standard bait. The injuries on the dead man will give a very good indication of its size, so if a small/larger shark is caught it can be freed.

Hooper, is that you?

Well, this is not a boat accident! And it wasn't any propeller; and it wasn't any coral reef; and it wasn't Jack the Ripper! It was a shark

I dived multiple times with sharks in Malaysia, Fiji and Australia. Been within a few feet of bull sharks and even a massive tiger shark. They are territorial and will have particular patches of territory. In Fiji there was a resident tiger shark which could be found in the same spot most of the time.

Sad this gentleman met such a horrific end.

If I was killed by a shark I wouldn't want it hunted down. Its absurd.

I kind of understand that, but you have to realise that it's not about revenge for a dead man here. Rather this is about protecting both the individuals that will continue to swim/dive in the area, as well as the entire tourism industry of the area. People just won't go there any more if there are fortnightly shark attacks.

Plus there are a couple of guys out there just now that get to play real life Roy Scheider and Robert Shaw. That alone makes the witch-hunt worth it!:p

The Seychelles tourism guy was on the news a couple of days ago saying that it was not a local shark and had migrated to the area recently as they don't normally have problems with sharks in that area....

Although I think its sad that any shark needs to be killed because of it hurting/killing a human, it's quite obvious that this "rouge" shark needs to be removed if it attacks people that are only 20 metres from the shore....

there was a guy talking about this on c4 news last night, apparently it is monsoon season so there was a lot more boats hanging around in the area, meaning more nutrients in the water to attract sharks - they were saying that sheep carcusses were thrown in from boats (bet that was a tasty meal!) - if they can find the shark and kill it fair enough, but what is actually going to happen is that lots of sharks will be killed, they don't even know what type of shark this was so i can't see it ending well!!

Typical human responce... kill anything that is a danger to them.
Just stay out of the water and you won't be attacked.... it's the sharks territory after all!!!! We do not belong in it!!!

.

bloody foreigners, coming over here, dossing on our reefs, eating our tourists etc.

^lol, at least they're getting rid of it. If it were the UK, we'd give it a job, council house and benefit package.

Really? I'd want people to wear its skin as a bloody cape and put its head on a pike on the shore where whilst warding off other sharks, people with a strange sexual fetish for shark's heads can skull-hump it.

We have as much right to be there as the shark tbh. We're just prey defending ourselves like any other animal.

Sensationalist article. "Monster", "taste for human blood" etc. Get a grip.

It's a greasy tabloid aiming at melodrama and sensation, to be expected. If only they could publish the ****ing story without the usual sensationalist drivel accompanying, I could take them more serious.
