Hi, Noticed on my SKY HD box, on my EPG under HD tab, some programs are highlighted in white whereas some are highlighted in orange.

What does this mean?

Thank you

oh right. would it not make sense then just to have under HD tab just HD programs then instead of both?

Just realized, Emmerdale is not in HD :(

I always recorded the HD version. So there is no difference for arguments sake then compared to standard ITV for that program? as that is in white under HD tab.

The HD tab just lists HD channels. Not every program on the HD channel will be in HD, thus it shows highlighted channels (those in HD) and non-highlighted channels (upscaled SD)

Its always better to watch the program on the HD channel, regardless as to whether or not it's actually in HD. It will be upscaled and look a bit better if it isn't HD.

You know on some pvr's you can switch around the channels, I would recommend putting ITV HD as 103 and bbc one HD as 101 so you will never forget to switch.

can you do this on SKY's Amstrad HD box?

I would love to simply remove all the non HD channels except for those that don't have an HD alternate and then place them in my order of preference but the best i seem to be able to do is to place the in favourites in an awkward order.

I don't know, I believe you can do it on the foxsat 2 using ramond's package but I am unsure. I have windows media centre set up and you can do it on that, I forgot about 4 hd but most of it's programming is not in HD anyway.

You are all wrong..... The Programe's in orange where filmed in HD & then broadcast in HD.

As even on the HD Channels programs are broadcast in HD but not filmed in HD so SKY upscale it so it is still better than SD....

You can't change the numbering order on the Sky boxes. Sky recently enabled a 'channel switch' service if you have the HD sub but both ITV and BBC declined to be included so ITV SD will stay on 103.

The orange highlighting of programmes in an option you can choose to turn on\off.

Plenty of programmes on HD channels are not highlighted, so I assume they arent HD. Wonder why they appear on a HD channel.

Mostof the channels are 'simulcast' in that they show the same programming as the SD channel but in HD where available. Would you rather see 'Sorry this program is not available in HD, please tune to the SD station' on screen instead?

Because otherwise there would be a gap in programming.

Emmerdale is going to be in HD on ITV1 HD channel 178, eventually :)

I always assumed white were not in HD so I wondered what was the point of having them broadcast on a 'supposed' HD channel.

Emmerdale would look awesome in HD(!!)...I've not watched it for a bit though.. ever since Pat thought her car could fly over a cliff or something :D

"Put kettle on ma"

Most HD channels are simulcast of the SD channel, so there will always be programs that weren't originally filmed in HD being broadcast.
