Can you get over a car's looks?

I always find that I grow to appreciate the looks of a car more once I own it. I start to notice little styling details that you just don't notice at first glance.

I even managed to convince myself that my Fiat Coupe was actually a good looking car.

The CTR is reputedly a great car and I certainly wouldn't turn it down on the basis of looks.

Hmmm is it bad then that I think the Fiat Coupe is a bit of a looker?

The back of our new one is properly awkward looking. I try not to look at it unless I'm loading crap in the back :D

I'd have to say no too. The cars appearance is important to me. A question like this would be good in a set to determine someones personality.

N rated tyres all round (I went with conti SC2) will set you back 220 a corner at the back (255/45/17 N2) and 165 a corner at the front (205/50/17 N2). So £770 and £15 for nitrogen filling (not required but keeps the pressure good) so yea £800 for tyres. if your on 18's then they are bigger and more expensive.

Rears will last about 7-10k if your lucky and fronts double that.

£800 for sport contact 2's, lolocaust, I got my 18" sport contact 3's for the ST at £125 a corner fitted, as the saying goes it sounds like they saw you coming.

I once owned a Suzuki Hayabusa. It was all about the performance as it was a rather ugly motorbike. Thing is it made me grin stupidly whenever I accelerated :D

Are your SportContact 3's N rated? There is quite a price difference.

That and they don't do contact 3's N rated in my tyre size, they do a set of bridgestones but they are the same sort of money... Still I wanted to keep it on matching tyres and to be honest am willing to pay the extra to have the right tyres for the job... Price comes second when your talking about the rubber keeping you on the road.

And this is what it is all about... I see plenty of busa's around here and I don't think to this day I have seen one stock. All seem to have extended rear arms and HUGE tyres :D:D

There are some cars that I think fundamentally are really good at what they do but I simply couldn't own one because they look rubbish due to some quirky design feature.

The Civic on the other hand, while a little bland, doesn't really offend the eye. In summary take one for a spin :p

There's loads of standard busas round here, you just notice the dragged up ones because of all the noise!

Standard busa's not even a bit loud really, same with Blackbirds. Understated, but you open it up and it's like a guided missile.

Busas are almost unforgivably ugly though - I couldn't believe it but they actually managed to make the new shaped ones look worse :/

Holy crap! Glad I went for the Clio in the end. Costs half that for tyres, decent tyres too.

Surely that isn't right?

Wait. You shortlisted two cars. A Renault Clio and a Porsche Boxster?

EP3's look fine IMO.

Suppose everyone's different but while a Type R is not the prettiest and has a bit of an image I got it because I went for a test drive and loved it. The looks do grow on you. Its now the car I have owned the longest :D
No way you can stretch the budget a bit and get a facelift 04 looks a little better. Chance to pimp mine a little.

Wide angle shots like that do the Civic no favours!

Here's mine before a recent wheel refurb:

I wasn't 100% sold on the looks either, and in fact wanted a Leon Cupra R at the time. That was until I saw a Milano Red CTR with a Magnex cat back system utterly floor it up a country lane from a standing start when I was on a walk. It was at that moment I decided I'd be buying one ASAP. :D

Just had quite a surprising conversation with my insurer, they will insure me on a CTR for around £800 less than I was expecting/other quotes obtained with apparently the same level of cover and a ridiculously low excess.

Let the shopping commence :P
