Hi,
unlocked my Asus ref 6950 to 6970, but it freezes under stress for about 10 secs and then the screen goes black for a few secs. Sometimes it comes back, sometimes it doesn't.
I'm guessing this is because I need to bump the voltage a little, but there seems to be no way to bump it after flash.
I've reverted to standard 6950 bios atm. Any ideas guys?

The 6950 memory chips can't seem to run on the same voltage and speed as the 6970, hence which causes the instability. Just try flash your 6950 to unlock the shaders, then see if you can clock the core speeds to 6970 speeds.

Yep, I also think that my card can't handle the 6970 specs.
Anyone give me a link to a modded 6950 bios with only the shaders unlocked plz?

SlugForAButt I can also give you reg entries to unlock the CCC limits(as you will only get the stock AMD settings), just let me know.;)

That would be appreciated too mate as the core will only go to 840 with the 6950 bios.

Both files that you need which is an Asus 6950 Unlocked Shader bios and higher CCC limits reg entry:
http://www.fileserve.com/file/jQ8Hzm7/6950_Unlocked_Shader_Bios_and_CCC_Limit.rar

(You use these at your own risk!) Warning: Before you use the reg entry, BACKUP your original entry first in case anything goes wrong, you can find it here :

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000]

After using the reg entry you need to restart before the limits are removed.

Before you flash the bios you could try the reg entry and reduce your memory clock to stock 6950 speeds first, that could possibly be the cause of your problem.

Remember the unlocked shader bios is at 1.1v, whereas the 6970 is 1.175v so your oc'ing headroom may be li,mited unless you bump up the voltage using Afterburner or Trixx.

I have unlocked shader 6950 Xfire using this bios and reg entry, which enables 950MHz and 1300MHz on the memory, I can't go any higher on the memory using Xfire without instability.

Let us know how you get on.
