I'm off to Amsterdam Tuesday 23rd -Sunday 28th this week with 2 of my (male) mates.

We've had a look around the web and are planning on going on a bike tour which will last us half a day, we know about the sex/cannabis museums and obviously want to visit some coffeeshops.

My questions are:

What are the best coffeeshops for tourists? I've heard quite a few try to rip you off. We're not strangers to cannabis so are looking for some nice places just to chill out etc
What other things are worth doing in Amsterdam, my mate has suggested a sex show although not sure how comfortable I am doing it with 2 dudes :p

Anything else anyone can recommend?

Also we've had a look at travel passes (Our hotel is 4 star but about 15-20 mins tram/bus journey from the centre) some are 35 euro which covers everything for 3 days or i've seen a bus pass for 15 euro for 3 days. Does anyone know what kind of times the buses/trams stop operating? We don't really want to come back to early so think we will probably have to get a few taxis. Really just wanting to know what the best/cheapest way to travel around is?

Any anything else anyone can think of :D

lol expected the smoke replies, we are well aware and will be doing a lot of this, however we do it a lot anyway so was just wondering if there were any other things to do when over there that people have found interesting. Yes I am sure we will have wander through the red light district (Actually i'm certain, one of my mates is counting his spending money in prostitutes ;)).

Anyone have any coffeeshop recommendations?

Take shrooms and walk around the museum quater?

Failing that, banana bar and get a postcard.

HIGHLY recommend "420 Cafe" just off the main Damrak street (google it for specific directions), its worth it for the amazing hot chocolates alone! The 'goods' are normally very reasonably priced too. Been there a number of times and each time seemed to be a good mixture of locals and tourists, with friendly staff :)

Some coffee shops are much more commercial than others, that said, I do like the banana bar and the grasshopper. Some are much more like rustic cafes where you can play chess and stuff.

Just have a wander, and take it as it comes, that's my advice. :)
