The reason why Free To Play MMO's are destroying the Genre

I just wouldn't play a game like that, I'd be confused as to why anyone would play a game like that too.

But according to you people play terrible games and waste their money in the cash store simply because they are free. Why would they do that if the games are terrible?

Because its MY OPINION. You feel that spending £3 on a Experience scroll is a worth while investment, i think its day light robbery.

They obviously like the game and are happy to fork out the money, even though they may or may not understand there being ripped off.

Ding ding ding ding!! We have a winner folks. A person with logic. :D

It works in all directions.

If you don't enjoy a game enough to warrant paying for a subscription, don't play it.

If you don't get enough enjoyment from a F2P title without buying items, but are unwilling to do so, don't play it.

Point in case. It's only a rip off to you because you don't want to pay for it. Nobody is forcing anyone to buy anything, they can walk away from the game and play anything else if they wish.

I've been reading up and habbo is about to pass wow in player count. Habbo is f2p

That dodgy facebook hotel game that currently has less than 10k players playing it on a Saturday evening?

I haven't checked... but I get the feeling that wow has more people logged in right now. 10 million players clicking randomly now and again != Active accounts.

Ah, the site I was linked to. Strange how it only lists subscriptions though, which are not required on F2P games so is an unreliable source of how many people is actually playing the game.

You just dug your own hole there mate.

Active Accounts are used to describe Free to play.

Most important change for the future is the addition of Active Accounts, which will allow me to list more MMORPG's overall. From now on, all MMORPG's will be marked as AA ( Active Acounts ) or SS ( Subscriptions ), so it is easy to see the difference. Clearly Subscriptions are more important but it is interesting to see Active Accounts as well I believe.

Before the graphs only showed subs, now they display both F2P and P2P.

Exactly what i said in the OP, But either way the company wins. If your playing a free to play game without spending anything, your just costing that company money. They either want you to pay or leave.

Tell that to the new game firefall that's coming out. It's completely free according to the devs.

But its still only 1/3 the cost of a months worth of fees, also I havnt bought experience scrolls in any of the games I play so I have no idea WTH you are talking about.

Also:

Also from the link above:

Actually, WoW has never been the “most popular massively multiplayer online world”.

If you measure by registered users, the old Korean MMO’s like Kart Rider or Mu online with each 50+ million easily beat it.

If you measure by players online at the same time, then ZT online easily beats it with 2,1 million players online at the same time in China alone!

The graph now shows F2P.

And now the GW kids kick in. End of discussion.

I have never played GW in my entire life...

Edit - hey! you can't stop the conversation because no one agrees with you.

Your opinion just says, wow = good. Even though the models are actually very similar except you can get to end-game without paying a bloody dime!

And latex isnt trolling with his 'All FTP games are simply terrible?' And he thinks he is making an intellectual debate???

It would be trolling if he never came back and argued his point and laughed people at argue about it. But he did, so not trolling.
