My August Woes ....

The only bad thing is that you broke your ankle. You're getting most of the holiday money back and you still got the job you wanted. PLus, your wife will wait on you in a cleavage revealing nurse's outfit while you get lots of gametime in.

Thread should be retitled "August Wahays!"

This has made me chuckle!

Indeed it does sound rather over dramatic! But as I have said there is a lot more to it.

Still not sure (due to how bad the break was), how quickly i will be able to walk properly again. And sport is out of the question, well at least the sports I enjoy the most for at least a year or so.

Although dont get me wrong I really do understand how lame it sounds from the outside. But it was a big bummer, having to miss the holiday which we where both looking forward to etc.

Oh well!

August wahays maybe is more fitting :)

so anyone else had similar experiences?

I think a nice picture of your better half in said outift will help to cheer us all up :D

Oh, and get well soon too obviously!

Unlike the other d**kheads here, I feel kind of sorry for you :p I'd be annoyed if I lost my holiday, moreover because of something I was told not to do :P I hate being wrong.

Hey, at least you are getting your money back and your fiance' is a nice one :P

Everything will be better.

I thought you were going to say that:

You smashed your ankle meaning you'd struggle to walk again

You lost your current job and your new job offer

Your GF went on holiday on her own and found someone else whilst there

Indeed. Im not happy with the happy ending :(

I feel for you as I broke my foot in 4 places a few years back! I got back on the bike and cycled home on it...don't know why but it was pretty sore. The German speciliast thought I'd came off a motorbike rather than a push bike.

I had 3 months in crutches for that and being quite active it was pretty depressing!

Showering was a royal pain in the arse with a cast on my leg aswell.

Forgot to say that I spent about 8 hours waiting to be seen and was told it wasn't broken. I got a letter two weeks later saying to come back up for a CT scan.

oh well ocuk to the rescue

Sounds like some bad **** to go through, but you still managed to come out the end of it smelling of roses.

Look at it this way, what if the girlfriend had told you to **** *** and left you because you ignored her? what if you'd lost all that money spent on the holiday, and what if your new employer decided to give that job to another candidate? ;)

Smile Dude!!!

I cab say from experience (a broken leg) that the recovery takes longer than you expect. the most painful part is when they remove the plaster and you have to move your ankle for the first time. All the tendons have shrunk and the muscles withered and it hurts like hell.

Hope you get better soon.

The moment I read "skateboard" loads of memories of doing a similar thing before one of my A-Levels then ruining my wrist came flooding back...

Pro-tip never play on a skateboard just before something important...

Hope you get well soon as Hades says the worst bit is the first time you take the cast off! Make sure you do EXACTLY what the physio says as rushing anything like that can make it so bad :(

Guy I play 5-a-side football with broke his ankle in three places sliding for the ball. Was such a gentle slide but horrendous injury, and he had to wait 5 days in hospital before he could have an operation to fix it.

Yeah I can sympathise with that I was in for 7 days before they could operate it was a nightmare! Oh well ...

Ouch! GL with the recovery.

All the tendons have shrunk and the muscles withered and it hurts like hell.

I couldn't extend my fingers for a couple of weeks after having a splint on my hand after a tendon repair. Was really shocking when they removed it and my fingers just wouldn't move no matter how hard i tried.
