My wife's HTC Desire S has started playing up so we have been advised by mobiles.co.uk to take it into a Carphone Warehouse and they will send it off for repair/replacement.

Now I know I can take the SD card out and that has all the photos, music etc but what is the best way to delete everything else that might be private (e-mails (and settings), texts etc)
Would a factory reset do the job??

Also, anyone have any idea as to whether she will get a replacement phone while hers is being sorted??

Thanks guys......

Factory reset will get rid of everything, just make sure you take the SD card out before you do it because sometimes the stuff on it can be deleted.

No idea about the possibility of a replacement phone im afraid.

Aparently not all 'Factory Resets' are the same.

We just did one on an old Nolia 5800 before sending it off to be recycled, and found that 200 odd messages were still sitting in the 'In Box'... and some photos were still there also!

Depends, there are 2 resets on Nokias IIRC - one is OS reset the other is full blown torch it to the ground style. Android reset can be found in 2 places - 1 is the bootloader and the other is settings > Privacy (use this one).

She won't get a replacement phone while the other is being fixed unless CPW has said so (highly highly doubt it though). I have only ever seen this done for vertu fixes.

Do NOT send the microSD card away with the phone, they will steal it.
