Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

I wouldn't really class Gouken as a shoto.

Our Army:
Ryu: Distorted, Adz
Akuma: Zid, Salu
Oni: OMH
Oddly enough, all some our best players

Oh and Art plays everyone! :p

New stick not performing?

On a similar note I took my stick apart to change the buttons over so it would work with "Controller A" straight off with no messing about, now it feels like some of the buttons don't respond properly! :(
my own fault!

Shoto's are Akuma, Ken, Ryu, E.Ryu, Sakura. Sagat, Gouken, Seth and Dan share the core shoto characteristics (fireball and DP's [EX tatsu with Gouken serves the same purpose] are the primary characteristics) but their style is different enough for them not to usually be lumped in with the core shoto's.

Capsom need to take a leaf out of their MvC book with SFxT and the next street fighter (hinted at being released before 2014) and include some variety in their character move sets.

Just seen Kree and Kenny talking in the tournament thread about playing offline and stuff like that and I didn't want to go off topic so I thought I'd post this in here. How many of you actually have an offline scene? I wish I did. Let me put things in perspective for you all, there's only one other guy I know in my area that plays SSFIV religiously and he thinks he has mastered every character in the game because he knows all of their special moves without having to look at the command list.

My god some of you are so lucky =) A guy on here 'Deathjumps' is a friend of mine and I get some offline time with him but he only plays Ken so it's extremely hard for me to learn match ups. Example, I played against an Adon fighter on Saturday night and he was terrible but I had no idea how to punish half of what he did he did Jaguar Tooth or whatever it is over and over again was just very frustrating.

I've found you can read all the forums and guides you want online but you don't really learn matchups without actually playing them regularly.

There's a place in Bradford called Unit 16 but I don't think anyones any good there and I'd probably get stabbed for winning so I don't go there. (In a bad area)

I'd love to go to SVB or something next year. I really wanna enter a proper tourny like that and see how it goes. Probably bring a few mates to cheer me on even though they know nothing about the game!

none of my mates plays fighting games as much as me in general, hence it is impossible for me to practice with them offline. so i need to travel, but i need money to travel!

There's a great scene in London. Weekly tournaments for both marvel and ae, along with a bigger monthly tournament for most relevant fighting games.
You can also go to the arcade/gamerbase in central, there are usually a couple of good players around.

Foundations of a potentially good scene have been going strong in our area for a little while now. The two hardest things are finding a venue and then finding the people. Turned out there were some good players hiding in the woodwork and I'll be running a tournament this week so we can establish an "official" seeding for everyone.

You can definitely get good matchup knowledge online, still. Best thing to do is find players that are equal to your skill level and challenge them to FT5s regularly.

re: SvB. I would skip next year as this year was a disaster, it'd be worth waiting for the organisers to prove they can run a decent event rather than risking another let down.
OMH you should make it out to the Gamerbase. Without question, London's strongest frequent those tournaments.. plus you could give Ryan some tips on how to play Oni.

We're not short of good venues around my area that's the thing, what I'm hoping to do in October is organize a tournament and make sure it's well advertised and who knows I may find some hidden gems around the area.
