Heya guys, only post #2 and unfortunately it's another question.

I've got logitech x-540 speakers, 5.1 (center and sub share an output) and I'm planning on using a HDMI cable instead of a standard VGA to connect to my tv when I buy a new graphics card.
I know I could just keep the speakers hooked up to my pc but I figured I may as well make use of the HD audio on most cards plus I want consoles and any other devices connected to my tv to make use of the speakers.

Is this possible?

Thank you for any time spent on reading, Mikey.

It is, but you wont get true 5.1, as TV's only have stereo sound.

Some 5.1 speakers upmix stereo to all the speakers, but I'm not sure which are able to do this.

So I'd be better just getting a 5.1 with the little controller box that has all different inputs? Tbh I'm selling my xbox so don't really have anything else to plug into it, I was just curious.

I'll most likely get a cheapy sound card as I've heard even that'll be better than onboard
