Hi all

So finally I have some of my own money saved after 6 months hard slog!

I have £5000 to invest ideally I'm not looking for high risk as it's been hard work saving it! :P

Apart from a cash Isa are there any better places I should look at ?

For £5k?

Wondering what the point is, just keep it in an instant access ISA at the best rate you can find.

Cos 5k is a lot of money for me to have managed to save and obviously I want to put it somewhere where it'll make the most :)

Best ISA
Premium Bonds for a short while if you fancy a free lottery with a very low chance of winning anything.

Or speak to an IFA and invest it in a company that's suffered/suffering/going to suffer badly in the next month or so with the current economic climate but will recover.

Nationwide do a limited access account paying 2.4%net.

No spelling mistakes, no glaring grammatical errors and it all makes sense. You, sir, are not Nigerian :p

I looked into this a while ago. ISAs are probably your best bet but don't expect to see any massive returns.

It's going to make sod all, stick in an ISA if you dont think you'll want to use it or stick it in a Santander eSaver at 2.75% because at least then you can get at it with no penalty if you want to go on holiday or something.

£5,000 in a 2.75% account £137.50 nice but is it life changing
£5,000 in premium bonds might win £100 or £1000 nice, might win a life changing amount. Know which one I would go for.

For the record, I have had £1,000 in premium bonds for 4 years, had three £50 wins, still a better return than any bank or building society could have given me.
