Hi guys Im looking to buy a car for around £3000 (have a van at the minute)

I will be doing around 13000-15000 miles per year

I dont want a mondeo so dont suggest it, had my fair share of them, infact have a diesel for sale on ebay now..

I dont want something small, crummy and slow, been looking at bmw e46 323i, 325i, 328i - Will do around 25-28 mpg I guess?

Ive also been looking at Vectra 1.9 cdti's which should do 48-52 mpg?

Can find reasonably tidy examples (100k+ miles but with full history) for this money

I cant really spend any more money, Im self employed and have a mortgage so the pennies count..

I have 3 years ncb and nice postcode so insurance is around £600 on the cars ive mensioned

Any Advise? Petrol or Diesel?

Thanks

That was quick, So say a E46 6 cylinder is £2500 to buy and a Vectra cdti is £3200 to buy, Im not going to regain my money in 1 year?

An E46 6 cylinder could easily cost £2,500 in repairs too. If you're struggling with cash above your budget this is the last car you should consider.

Why fixate on prestige brand 6 cylinder petrol cars with such a small budget and a fixation on running costs?

I often find it hard to decide whether to spend sod all on an E46 petrol or buy a Vectra diesel, especially when I am currently selling a Mondeo diesel on Ebay.

Oh wait.

It's a DannyW thread.

Get the pancake.
