G400 looks like a revamped MX518, so on looks basis and the buttons i'd personally buy the G300.

However as i love my G500, i won't be buying a new mouse until it breaks

That looks excellent! The buttons look great on either side of the left/right buttons. Not so sure about those two just before the scroll wheel though, could be fiddly. I'm looking to get hold of a new mouse and have been looking at the G400 but this has made me think again. For the price they are asking (Logitech), looks better value for money also.
