PES 2012: Two Demos Announced

KONAMI offers early taste of PES 2012 for fans

Konami DigitalEntertainment GmbH has announced it will release TWO playable demos for its eagerly awaited PES 2012 title. The demos will be available free for PlayStation®3, Xbox 360® and Windows PC, and will give PES fans a chance to experience the game early in its development cycle and prior to release.

The first demo will be released on August 24th and will be based on a preview build of the game. While there will be areas that are refined, KONAMI wants PES users to try out the game’s many new Teammate Control elements prior to launch and experience the realism that Active AI brings to PES 2012, and which have been singled out for extensive praise by the media. The demo will also showcase the individuality of the many teams in the game, and users will be able to pick from six teams and their playing styles – Manchester United, AC Milan, FC Porto, S.S.C Napoli, Santos FC, and C.A. Panarol – and pit them against each other in 10-minute matches. The demo will also showcase key Challenge Training elements, where fans can practice the new control systems to fully enjoy the game.

The first PES 2012 demo will not be truly representative of the final game, so KONAMI will issue a second free demo reflecting the final version’s feel and gameplay in mid-September for the same formats. This will also offer 10-minute matches, but with a different team roster of Tottenham Hotspur, FC Bayern Munich, FC Internazionale Milano, Rangers FC, Club America and Sport Club Internacional.

“We have spoken a lot about the new additions to PES 2012, and now we want users to see it for themselves,” explained Jon Murphy, European PES Team Leader. “By releasing a demo for preview purposes, we want people to get in early to try out the Teammate Control elements and to see for themselves how the Active AI works. This will then be followed by a second demo that offers different teams, and a closer approximation of what the final game will play like. We truly value the support and input of our user base – and these demos are so they can see how their help has aided the most ambitious PES to date.”

They're gonna need to pretty much match or make a better 'Ultimate Team' game mode then. I believe that is what the majority of Fifa players still play. It has kept me playing almost every day; (until of course, I get beat 4-0 and vow to never touch the evil piece of **** game ever again).

I gave up on that.

I like the fact that you can use the second analogue stick to make team mates make a run, that's always been one of my biggest issues with Football games that the AI of your team mates never make probing runs

Having said that I haven't really played a football game since the PS2 days when PES was top, might get one this year though (probably Fifa)

They've improved the AI quite a lot from what I've seen. Your team mates now hold their shape better whereas in 2011 there was a lot of times where my defenders would just be in a bunch, or my midfielders were all standing in the centre of the pitch holding a meeting. It looks like they stay in formation now and they also make overlaps and proper runs, as well as adding the ability for you to control two players at once.

If I remember rightly there was a similar feature in FIFA, might have been 2004, you could press a button and a team mate would go on a run for you. This seems like that, but more in depth. My main problem with PES is the dribbling feels horrible, it's like running through treacle, the turning is really slow as well and the first touch of your players is horrible. If they can fix those things then I'd probably love it. Looking forward to the demo tomorrow, I'll still end up getting FIFA 12 just for UT, but if PES is decent this year I'll end up with that too.

Another thing I hate is the lack of being able to shield the ball to safety, lost count of the amount of times the ball was slowing heading for a throw only for my player to run over and help it on it's way

I'm sure I've heard somewhere that has also finally been addressed

Think it has. There's a YouTube channel, officialpes, it has quite a few vids outlining the new stuff that they've added/improved. Can't wait till the demo comes out tomorrow so I can see if the dribbling is better, that's the biggest thing for me.

Thanks for posting this I was wondering when a demo would be released!

I cant see it being better than Fifa :( but ill give it a try

Tried the PC version just now, it actually feels pretty good, the dribbling is much much better and feels more natural and flowing. I quite like it in fact.
