hey guys!

i have this psu

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-003-XF

and this motherboard

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-054-AK&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=1990

When i connected it all up the psu has 2 4pinn connectors that join up to make the 8 pin. however one half fits perfectly to the motherboards 8 pin socket and the other 4 pins shapes dont look like they match up if that makes sense, but its still connected at the moment!

should i take the 2nd 4 pin half out and just use the 4 pins that match up to the motherboard (sorry if this is hard to follow, trying to explain it best i can)

if so how can i cap off the remaining 4 pins from the psu, or is that not necessary.

thanks for any help given, it just doesnt look like it sits properly as if the 2nd half isnt ment to be plugged in, dont want to damage my new mobo!

thanks!

You have to have both parts put in.

If you are worried because they are not symmetrical, then it is fine; it is meant to be like that.

Only having one half in, will get you just as far as not having anything in.

ahh ok!

so it wouldnt work with just the 4 pins that were originally uncovered? as the mobo had a little sticker over the other half so i removed that to fit the 8

You don't have to have both parts in and the system will run with only 4 pins connected.

Having all 8 pins connected will give a better power supply to the CPU especially if overclocking.

yea thats cool so may aswell have all 8 in, however the 2nd half doesnt look like the hole shapes match the shapes on the cable unlike the first half, thats why i was confused
