5850 to 6970 ?

Would it be worth changing my 2 Asus 5850's for a HIS HD6970 2GB IceQ 'MIX'
would I see any benefit of going for the 6970 ?
 
You get your performance downgraded if you go from 2x 5850 to a single 6970, i.e. most games would run at much lower fps.

You would only see significant performance increase in very limited situations, such like starting dual-instance of WoW in DX11 mode with max settings, which doesn't use much GPU power but uses lots of vram.
 
you would get a more stable min framerate tbh , i went from crossfired 5870's to a single 6970 and it supprised the min fps was better . i did this with wanting to add a second at a later date which i now have

I see, as you say there is always the case add another at later date which then make it even better.
Still trying to justify spending £200ish on another gpu so I will more than likely stay with the 2 x 5850's for now at leaset ;)
