£3000 petrol or diesel?

It would depend, maybe. Going a month over on a service and having cheap types would not put off buying a good car though.

Where does it stop?

Cheap oil, inferior oil? Not bothering to warm the car up because it drives no different from cold? Getting it washed by someone in a car park? Disconnecting warning bulbs?

So if you were buying a £30k M3 you would not care if it was rolling on 4 Triangle tyres? You would still think "Woah, this car has been maintained brilliantly by someone who can clearly afford to run it and keep it in good nick"?

No. You would think it had been owned by someone like yourself or Joshy.

I'm just annoyed I wasted all that money replacing my suspension. I should have just left it.

Also I should leave my tyres until they are 1.61mm and then replace them with the cheapest thing in stock. Because thats running a car you can afford to run, that is. Only OCD car enthusiasts would do anything more

Hey guys, after a bit of advice if you don't mind. I just pulled out the dipstick and can't see any traces of oil on it. But the oil light hasn't come on. Should be OK shouldn't it?

And why would you drive your car differently when it's cold? The rev limiter is at 6,750rpm for a reason

When you bought a 523i you sold it after whinging about how much petrol it used.

As you are such a used car sales expert why do you care what we think anyway? Infact why is a l33t car traderz like you buying 11 year old BMW's from dealers?! I wouldn't even advise savvy private buyers do that, let alone people 'in da trade'?

I was doing a lot more miles in my 5 series I normally hate car dealers but thats one of the nicest e46 I can find for the money I want to spend and im sure i will find a niggle or two and knock him down a bit

I think the fact the nicest E46 you can find for the money is an 11 year old 323i with a shiney steering wheel and polished seats tells you all you need to know about the cheap E46 market.

Oh please do shut up, pull your head out of your backside and stop trying to make this personal. You know nothing of how I maintain my cars.

Anyway.

As cars get cheaper and their perceived worth to their owner gets lower and lower it is expected that the level of maintenance that owners are going to lavish upon their car is going to drop off. Just because the level of maintenance may drop below the standard of what you as an enthusiast think the car 'deserves' does not mean the person who is running it can't afford to run it and should therefore drive a Kia instead.

People have different priorities. Like I said earlier, to most people if the car looks good, seems to drive ok and gets through an MOT once a year then it is fine.

Well what do you think that car is worth? i phoned the guy earlier wouldnt shut up about how good it is and how it had a £1000 majour service last year at bmw

It's probably worth that - I'm not saying you can do better for the money, i'm saying you need more money to do better.

Personally I'd take the Mondeo off Ebay and drive that until I had enough for something decent.
