New MBA - fresh install?

I appreciate with any branded Windows computer, a clean install will ALWAYS be cleaner than you get it from the manufacturer. But that simply doesn't apply to Mac computers, it's exactly the same. Part of the reason we pay more for them in the first place!

Yeah I agree with windows because of the amount of third party rubbish they install that all insists on starting on boot, Apple don't do this making it a bit pointless!

So yeah, OCD :p

Apple need to have a serious rethink about this lion install and not including media in the box...

Booted up my new MacBook pro (lion installed) and made a USB key using apples app which copies the recovery partition

Put my SSD in the new MacBook pro... Booted... Waited about 3 hours for it to download "additional components" (basically all of osx lion) then my router had a fit but for some reason the install started from scratch , the download started from scratch...

So if the 700 ish recovery partition is just a gateway to downloading lion then what the he'll do people with rubbish Internet do

Point them all to my blog, we shall see some happy faces then! :)

Does anyone know what archive utility to use to extract multiple zip's into one file like on windows it's winrar. I just have to update my blog how to extract them on a mac?

I can accept that my throttled Internet can be slow but I can't accept how the bloody stupid install thing has to completely restart the downloading lif the connection drops

And I would love to download your DMG , infact it was my first choice but then somewhere said this recovery install thing was as quick or infact quicker thandownloading the lion app

I have no logical explanation for you I'm afraid... just like to fresh format new machines :)

I understand I used to do the same, but with my macbook air I didn't. It's the first time I've ever done it on a personal machine. The only thing I did was delete any apps that I don't use. :)

Each to their own, I have to say from a purely work based point of view I should really try the process before needing to do it on a clients machine.
