Do I play Diablo 2?

Hey guys, i'm looking to really get into Diablo 3 when it releases but it'll be my first game in the series so is it worth putting some hours into D2 for storyline purposes or am I likely to manage alright without?

I'd play it. It's a damned good game still IMO.

I'd have thought you'll enjoy D3 without playing it. There's certain to be references you won't get without playing 2 though.

I revisited diablo 2 not long ago, but had to stop playing due to the excessive amount of spam on each game you join/create, upon creating a game about 4 bots will join and fill the screen with SPAM for websites to buy game items and leave, and different ones will join after that and this will go on for a long time, the only workaround is to put level limits on each game you create but you will need to get some levels before you can do this (all spam bots use level 1 chars so set the limit so no level 1's can join)

I remember putting that command in for sp. What did it do just make the monsters harder as if you were playing with 8 people but also gettting loads more exp?

The screen res "fix" will see you banned from Battle.net I believe (it certainly used to). Proceed at own risk.

Remember Players 8 also increases the drop chances for items

Im installing now i havent played this in a couple years. I never managed to finish nightmare only got to act 2 so this time ill conquer it then onto hell....
