Pro Evolution soccer 2012 Demo

Hopefully it will be on Xbox live by the time I get home.
Might even phone the Mrs and ask her to check, so no waiting time when I get home :)

Not gonna happen I'm afraid. Apparently the xbox version has been pushed back till Sept due to unforseen circumstances.

PS3 is available now though.

Demo is fantastic. Really fun and an improvement on the last.

Easy to send specific players on a run now, and everything feels a lot more fluid.

Keepers are still dodgy, and you'll need to practice defending as it's not like the FIFA style of needing to just stand directly infront of the attacker.

CPU probably shows the most improvement, with their style varying and adapting during the game. They now exhibit a wide range of passing which is much less predictable than 2011.

First impressions are that this will be my primary football game, but last year the PES demo was equally impressive, but the final game was a lot more tame.

...and of course I'm yet to play a demo for FIFA12.

I can't be bothered typing out a massive post so here's my thought in bullet point form. :p
  • The graphics are excellent.
  • AI has been drastically improved.
  • The dribbling has been vastly improved.
  • Team mates now make proper forward runs.
  • There's a huge amount of new animations.
  • You can actually run past players unlike 2011.
  • Team mates hold their formation much better than in 2011.
  • Set pieces are less clunky and much easier to be efficient at.
  • You can control a second player for defending or for making runs on the attack.
  • The passing is improved, feels much simpler and nowhere near as frustrating as 2011.

The dribbling in particular is something I'm REALLY pleased about as it was probably the biggest thing that stopped me enjoying 2011. In last years game it really was horrible, it felt like you were running on the moon, you could hardly ever outpace players and the running animations were really bad. This appears to have been fixed, it's now much easier to outpace defenders if you've got a fast player, it feels much more fluid and realistic. The passing has also been tweaked, you can now hit your players without spending hours practicing. In 2011 it felt very inconsistent for me, I'd do something, two minutes later I'd try the same thing again but it was have a different result, with this demo I can do what I want to do every time, instead of it giving me a completely random outcome like in 2011.

Players first touch has also been hugely improved, before it felt like my players would take ages to actually get the ball under control but now it's much more fluid, much more realistic and much more enjoyable to play. I'm really looking forward to the September demo which is meant to reflect the finished product. The current demo is an old build, the keepers have apparently been improved since this build which is only a good thing. I'm really looking forward in anticipation and I think this year I'll be getting FIFA for the UT mode and PES for everything else.

First impressions:

Animations look dodgy in the CGI intro, not a good start.
Milan are rated higher than United, wtf.
San Siro looks good in-game though, I like the lighting effects. The player models are also far more lifelike than FIFA.

The gameplay is better than 2011 but it still feels so wallowy and slow. The button lag is pretty bad on FIFA but this is worse, just seems impossible to do anything with any snap. The ball also still feels like it's stuck under your player's feet and dribbling the ball is like its on a string, always popping the same distance in front of you.

The keeper/defence AI is poor too.

I don't think FIFA is perfect but I think it will still be better than this. :( Dammit, PES!

Lol who to believe killswitch or oms?

Me of course! :D

What do Arsenal fans know about football? ;)

You... shush please. :p

I'll still be getting FIFA because I've enjoyed ever year since 08 and I don't see that changing, plus Ultimate Team is ridiculously addictive so that's a definite. If the next version of this demo is as enjoyable for me then I'll just get PES as well. :)

Is there a demo on Xbox? I played an unhealthy amount of MLO on 2011 even though it wasn't very good :(

Doesn't look like the Xbox is getting this version of the demo, but there's another version with a newer build coming out in September a few weeks before the full release.
