Idiot copper on emergency bikers-CH5

A few sandwiches in a car

Changes the risk profile.

Somebody going to loads of meetings has no sandwiches in a car yet is clearly more of a risk than somebody who doesn't even use the car to commute to the office and back (ie, the only people who should be declaring SD&P).

It's a woman I bet when she got the insurance she phoned up and said "will it cover me for xxx", the other party probably said yes.

If you use your car for the motor trade then yeah most people will expect it to have business/motor trade insurance.

She clearly didn't know about it, he could have given her a warning no need to give the 6 points. Police officers can use there own brain in situations, there not some robots that have to follow the rulebook.

But I dont have anything to do with the motor trade. I had to take the extra 5 minutes it took to ask exactly what cover I needed for what I was doing and make sure I brought the appropriate level. Most other people can do this there is no reason why she cant. Certainly not "because shes a woman".

Would you say the same if she had only bought social and domestic cover and was using the car to commute every day?

There's a saying "wish for others what you wish for yourself", in your case I hope it hits you hard. ;)

What, I wish that people would take responsibility for their own actions like an adult? Quite happy for that to apply to me as well. :p

A few sandwiches in a car is hardly major fraud compared to say delivering tons of material in a wagon or carrying around people in a mini bus, where people can get hurt and massive damage can occur.

A stern warning or let them ring up on the at the scene and then and change the policy, takes what 5 minutes on the phone these days.

Dont normally agree with your posts but your right, thesedays it looks like common sense and a bit of decency is being thrown out for chasing figures and promotions.

The real crooks get off 9 times out of 10, the average person though gets done over on the pettiest of things. Yet some people defend it all, just hope it happens to them too.

no sympathy for people who dont take the time to make sure they have the correct cover for their vehicles.

hardly crime of the century is it, I bet some of you don't spit chewing gum on the floor in front of other people in case you get done for littering. :p

If it makes you happier to know I've been fined for littering, didn't argue or get upset as it was true. Just paid it. That's life sometimes.

Thinking that spitting chewing gum on the floor is acceptable says it all really

So on a night out or when there's no bin in your sight and you have no tissues do you keep it in your mouth and wait till its all gone funny or do you put it in your pocket?

Ah so its your fault we end up with the stuff all over shoes...

The level of cover at times can be quite confusing between different insurers. I once had SDP and called to ensure I had what I needed (commuting use) and they just told me that was already included

I had checked, yes - but can see why it's not so clear cut at times.

oh lawd

You rung your insurance company lately?
:D

I have seen police programmes and some have allowed them to ring up their insurance, one guy was messing them about for over 20 mins. Lets face it they cant be that busy if they can fine people for such petty things.

Notice this is now in Motors and I am out of here.

I wonder if people defending her would be the same if it was a member of the travelling fraternity transporting scrap metal with the correct carriers licence but only on SD+P....?

No, you are right, its not the crime of the century. But lets look at it again.

She was already daft enough to be driving around with no seatbelt which only the epically stupid do in this day and age. Not only that, but because she was being silly the boys in blue, who at the end of the day have a job to do, have to waste their time pulling her over because of this. Not just for a fine, but to ensure her own saftey. When they could be out catching all the rapists / murders / robbers who are commiting these crimes of the century.

Then to top it off not only is she not breaking the law by having no seatbelt on, shes also using a car for buisness without the correct cover. I think they were spot on to throw the book at her. If she cant be bothered to spend 10 seconds putting on a seat belt or 5 minutes checking insurance she obviously needs a big wake up call.
