My daughter's first England goal!

Never even knew it existed until a few years ago and it will never reach the male versions numbers of viewers, simply the way it is.

I was more referring to the accusations of it being 'pap', the quality of football played was really good, and some of the goals were outstanding.

Take it you didn't watch the womens world cup then, which was ossom.

Saw some of it, and no it wasnt ossom whatever that means.

Let girls play, but its not a decent standard - from experience as a nipper we played a local sides u18s (before it all became pro, but still when it was organised). We were u15s at the time and thought we would take it easy, in the end as we outplayed them, they started to pinder us.... became a joke, but we lumped them something like 8 or 9. Most of us in that team went on to play at a decent level, couple are still pro...

Anyway dont know why you all jumped on the bandwagon when in my post I put this is not the place to discuss the merits of womans football. Start another thread in the sports zone if you want to discuss this with me :D

The womens world cup was arguably better than the mens from the England perspective, some really good team football and individual skill. shame the comms where crap on it because ti was enjoyable viewing

I'd rather watch female football than our current shower of ***** "men".

Only good thing to come from the recent riots was the friendly being called off.

Thanks for the kind comments. Some of the sexist comments were to be expected and I even managed to chuckle at 1 or 2 of them.

Sophie is a natural footballer, she actually doesn't know how good she is. Her biggest weakness is that she lacks strength and sometimes confidence but it hasn't stopped her from achieving despite always playing against girls a year and even 2 years older than her.

I'm hoping that she remains enthusiastic and that she can start to develop her physical strength. It is her dream to get a scholarship in the states and to gain full international honours with England one day.

I'll just keep supporting and encouraging her and who knows how far she can go.

However, that she remains happy with life is all that really matters.

Nice goal :)

On the topic of womens football being rubbish.. I had my hair cut by this girl (see below) and I asked her "So do you think that womens football is better than mens / do you think women are better than men" and she said "No mens football is a lot more physical, contact wise and they're a lot stronger and faster than women.. if women play men at the same age / division level men would win most of the time"

Didnt believe her when she said she was a footballer.. just thought ah the old barber shop talk as much crap as you can to the client speel.. so I googled it when I got back and there she is!

Though I'm not a massive sports follower really so I didnt have much to say so made up aload of crap :D
