Hi Guys,

My girlfriend is currently driving a Peugeot 207CC GT 1.6, which isn't too good on MPG and it is impossible for anyone to sit in the back.

We're currently looking at the new Seat Ibiza as a 1.6 diesel, which gives some good MPG improvements, cheaper tax etc and obviously more space in the back, which is what she wants.

Just after a few oppinions or views of the car really, she likes the looks of it and has had a test drive in one and enjoyed it. It seems to fit the bill for what it's needed for (driving to and from work ~30 min journey on a dual carriageway) and general driving to the shops etc. Is there anything we should know about the car, such as any problems they have or anything?

Thank you :)

We've got the 1.4 petrol 5 Door Ibiza Chill as my Mrs does almost no mileage (its on 900 since new in March) and its quite nice, other than the 1.4 engine which isn't nice at all, but cheap...

The build quality is not bad, comes with a decent spec, has cruise and climate which are nice additions and is roomy enough for us and 2 kids in the back. I've had the 1.6 TDI engine twice in Ibiza on holiday and its a decent engine and is more suited to doing real distances than the petrol is mainly as its a lot quieter, so if you can get that I'd have it. The reason for the 1.4 is the premium you pay for the diesel with such short journeys and low mileage it didn't make any sense.

I've driven two versions of the current VAG 1.6 turbodiesels in a Caddy and an Octavia. Fairly nice engine to drive. Quiet, competent and fairly petrol-like.

Not terribly impressed with the stock bridgestone tyres when covering though. I assume the Ibiza will come with something similar.

Mates Mum has a new Ibiza everytime a new shape comes out, she loves them and never had a problem with any although to be honest it only gets used as a shopping trolley it doesnt do huge miles

.

I had a mk6 Golf with this engine in and I couldn't disagree more. It was awfully slow, awfully laggy, awfully noisy and awfully unrefined. It wasn't very economical either. There's nothing remotely petrol-like about it. The Golf itself was good, but the engine.. No.

In the Ibiza its a good engine, as the car is a heck of a lot lighter and smaller than the Golf and it works well, its quite quiet is pretty economical in the Ibiza.

My Mrs has one.

Plenty of punch from 1800-3000rpm and because car is light it is quite nippy. Superb build quality and drives like a much bigger car. Economy is good if driven correctly and my mrs has been getting 400miles out of a 45ltr tank which is excellent for town driving. Also £35 road tax a year!

I've got the Leon with that engine and it is a bit gutless but is just adequate, fairly smooth and I'm averaging between 55 and 60mpg.
