Bit of a second hand story here but my dad was coming along and a woman pulled out into a main road while looking the other way. Dad couldn't do anythign to avoid her without causing a head on collision.
Only witness was some-one she works with who was turning left (she pulled straight out, no indication etc). Told my dad due to the work relation not to hold out much hope for him backing you up.

Will insurance look at the fact it was a main road and she was coming out of a side street and favour my dad, or just simply not enough facts here?

spanks.

c'est le junction!

I know what your getting at!

I shall remain shut, I asked him and he hasn't confirmed or denied anything.
Glad it was him driving and not my mum, otherwise no doubt it would have pushed my insurance up since I have to add both of them to lower it and she makes the bigger difference.....

Hahaha, I'm too stupid to be that witty

No, I actually mean is he OK as in well :)

General health wise no :P

But he currently seems on edge a bit, and unable to settle, usual stuff, some complaints of pains and stiffness, but how much is due to just muscle tension and stressing up?

Worrying mum took car out, she had an interview, so havnt inspected damage, I hope atleast the lights are undamaged. But I recon for a '99 vectra it's a write off. And would strugle to get even £900 from insurance company.

The most important thing is for him to get better, after all a car is metal and can be replaced.

Hope he recovers soon :)

Depends on the type of impact and the estimated speed, but in general, yes, the insurers will side totally with your dad unless he was driving at excessive speed, where blame might be split. Someone in the insurance business once told me that if someone pulls out of a side-road in front of you, and the choice is T-bone them, or swerve and smack an oncoming car, go for the T-bone. The reason is that the position of the accident and type of damage make it obvious what the cause was. But please tell me your dad got pictures immediately after the accident? Otherwise it's not unknown for people to lie about where it occurred.

Lady's husband was just on the phone. She's american hence why she was looking left...
Also the car isn't hers, but that won't make a difference unless she's not insured!

Dad doesn't have photos, supposedly mum was hastling him to get moving etc

Sounds the same sort of thing as my crash except I pulled out. It will go in your dads favour no matter what IMO. I kicked up a stink about it, was even a police investigation and all that BS, they didn't give my side of the story any consideration though, was put at fault.

I'm sure that you've probably told the story, but I have to ask: how can you pull out in front of another vehicle and not be at fault, unless they were supposed to give way or stop at road markings?

When they are indicating into the junction, 50/50 would be nice in such instances. Oh well, live and learn, I never pull out in front of cars indicating now. Shame that lesson cost me my favourite car.

I always get questioned why I don't pull out of a junction/onto a roundabout when the approaching car is indicating. Unfortunately if you think your driving career might be 50+ years long ... it only takes one idiot who changes their mind or indicated incorrectly to cause a big shunt. I don't like the odds of meeting at least one of those idiots at least once in 50 years.
