Are these Sony TVs pretty good?

Hello everyone.
I'm ready to replace my 6 year old 32" Samsung lcd. I'm just after a modest buy under £500 and have found two Sony sets at Mr Richer Sounds webby.
Has anyone had them?

KDL40EX503 40" LCD. 100hz. Full HD. £449

KDL32EX713 32" LED. 100hz. Full HD. £479

Will be pairing it up with a Humax freeviewHD recorder (or the Sony equivalent) and Sony Blu Ray player.

Cheers :)

No complaints on the quality of the 32EX503 I have, if anything it has a better Sky HD picture than my 40Z4500, though maybe that is the affect of the smaller screen making it look sharper.

Hi guys :)
Thank you so much for your input, and for the reviews Fozzybear - both scoring quite high. Ordering today.... still a bit undecided but good to know they're both quality sets.

My new TV (KDL40EX503) arrived this morning along with the Humax Fox2 FreeviewHD PVR :)
Bit shocked at the prices of HDMI cables, but I guess everyone will say spend as muh as you can.

shall I leave all the TVs settings as they are or would you suggest a few changes?

100hz is better for dvd/bluray but leave off for Freeview, is this correct?

Thanks for your time :)

I would recommend some fireware updates for both the TV and the humax box to get the best of everything. I think both had recent updates as well.

As long as the TV is connected either to the internet or Freeview HD, it should update automatically. My 403 certainly appears to be auto-updating itself online before I can do it manually, anyway.

My TV actually would only update via the USB stick but I have the 803 so that might be different, I know my Sony blue ray player auto updates when connected to the net but whatever way you do it, its always a good idea to keep the firewares updated.

Not where HDMI cables are concerned, a cheap one is as good as an expensive £20 one;)
And I thought my £25 one was cheap! :) Honestly though, I couldn't really afford those 'Monster' branded cables, even if they were a pretty colour and promised to do lots of stuff my ordinary one wouldn't do.

Yes I mustn't forget to keep my TV & Humax box updated :)

Going to order a few of my fave movies on Blu Ray over the weekend too - Devil's Backbone, Planet Terror.

Thanks for taking time to help guys!
