pci-e card to rival the Xonar DG

I can highly reccomend the asus xonar DX, an excellent card for music and blu ray, (my main uses) and gaming.

i was looking at it m8 until i found this on an "Audiophile" thread

bad company 2 is currently my most played game :( although i would go for this card if there was any way of finding out BF3 will be fine.
 
Well, bc2 is the main game i play, and the DX works fantastic with it. Positional awareness in game is great, i can hear things in game that i never could with onboard sound. Medal of honor is another game i play, (based on bc2 engine) sound in it is even better again.
 
Having recently tried the more expensive D2X, i cant see why it costs 30 quid more than the DX. No difference that i could tell, and the D2X takes up a bit more space.
 
Nope, the only other xonars that have an amp are the essence series iirc. I use a separate amp with my DX and goldring ns 1000 headphones, FiiO E5 amp, costs about 20 quid or so.

ok cool ill have a look at the E5. to be honest i loved the sound the DG pumped out when put on exciter mode. now that ive heard it i probably cant do without the boost now :D kind of a stupid question but ill ask anyway :P would the e5 be better than the amp on the dg?

think im gonna pair the DX with a set of HD555's. think its a good entry set of cans for me. first time ive bought a set over£20 i think lol
